What?

Less than three weeks after the Phoenix Suns’ surprising run to the Western Conference finals, general manager Steve Kerr is parting ways with the franchise after owner Robert Sarver asked him to take a 10 percent pay cut, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Kerr’s stunning departure threatens to throw the franchise into turmoil and could hasten the departure of free-agent forward Amar’e Stoudemire this summer. Stoudemire’s agent Happy Walters met with Kerr as recently as last week to discuss his contract status, but is still waiting on a formal proposal from the team.

“Aside from the money, obviously an important factor for where Amar’e will sign is the direction of the organization, and Steve leaving signals a new direction for the Suns,” Walters told Y! Sports. “We need to see what that direction is. Amar’e has a great deal of respect for Steve, and so do I. Steve and [coach] Alvin Gentry made a great team there and now a big part of that team is gone.”

It really doesn't matter. He got lucky with the JRich trade [eventually] and [expletive]ed up the core when he traded Marion. Everyone wanted him gone a long time ago. I'm sure we'll get someone just as qualified [hopefully more] soon.

This kind of came out of nowhere, but like I said on CTS, he jumped the gun dealing Marion for Shaq, but more than redeemed himself with the deal that dumped horrible contracts in exchange for J-Rich and Dudley. He is easily replaceable, but it is kind of interesting that he is leaving.

Smart [expletive] man, he knows this franchise is going downhill.

This. Sorry Suns fans, but Steve Nash and Hill have got 1-2 more seasons left in them at best till retirement (or reduced to a much smaller role) and with Amare probably leaving, it doesn't look very good at the moment.

What indication has Steve Nash given that he is on the brink of retirement? The fact he just had his best season ever this past year? Or the fact that he is still a top 5 PG?
