Built Ford Tough
Tiago Splitter could soon be coming to an NBA arena near you. In news that can only be construed as good for the Spurs, the president of Splitter's Spanish League club said he expects the 6-foot-11 Brazilian to make the jump to America next season. During a ceremony this week celebrating Caja Laboral's Splitter-led Spanish League championship, team president Josean Quereta said he understands it is Splitter's "intent and desire" to join the NBA next season. Splitter, the Spurs' 2007 first-round draft pick and the MVP of the Spanish League this season, "wants to compete in the best league in the world," Quereta said. http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2010/06/spanish-boss-sp.html I remember making a thead about Splitter a month or so ago asking about whether or not he will be joining the Spurs this season, and by the sounds of it, it looks like he will be. This won't make the Spurs contenders or anything considering Duncan is aging, Ginobili is unreliable and Parker might not even be with the team, but this does, however, give Duncan the best frontcourt partner in quite some time now. I've always liked Splitter so I really hope that this report is true and he will finally come to the NBA next year.
Universe
Him and Blair should be a very interesting combo to watch.
Multi-Billionaire
Does anyone think he could be as successful as Luis Scola?
Erick Blasco
Does anyone think he could be as successful as Luis Scola? Word on the street is that he's better than Scola. If he is, this is a really big deal that will keep the Spurs near the top of the West.
Multi-Billionaire
^More athletic, taller, maybe. But Luis Scola is very fundamentally sound player. His mid-range shot, his work in the paint, boxing out, rebounding, passing, setting pick are all fundamentally solid. If Splitter can have a Scola career, he should be grateful. Scola should have joined the L earlier when he was younger.

Splitter's supposed to have more raw ability than Scola though, and that's what the Spurs can use right now. They already have two warhorses in their frontcourt. They need someone fluid who can create his own post offense. Duncan can, but not all the time anymore. Splitter would help immensely. Guest STL10
From what I've read he's the next Marc Gasol. The Spurs draft the best in the NBA.
