fly3rs18
its gonna be a big offseason for a lot of teams, so figured one big thread would be better.
fly3rs18
two trades already happened today: flyers trade rights to ryan parent to nashville for rights to dan hamhuis (both are RFA i believe) devils trade matt halischuk and a 2011 second round to nashville for former devil jason arnott
The Great iBoldin
What are you guys' (Flyers fans) thoughts on the Hamhuis trade? I think it's likely the end of Coburn/Carle and that's a fairly large return for an un-signed player. Hamhuis is going to command somewhere near $4 million, so it's going to be tough. Awesome trade for Joisey.

Universe
Glad to see Jason Arnott back with the Devils and eff Philly. Doing exactly what I said.
Universe
Please let's all agree never to bring that dude's rumours in here. His one last week was Semin for Broduer...no joke!

NomarFachix
Rangers were in on Arnott, but he was flipped to the Devils when Sather refused to give McDonagh. Can't say I'm upset it didn't happen.
Phightins
What are you guys' (Flyers fans) thoughts on the Hamhuis trade? I think it's likely the end of Coburn/Carle and that's a fairly large return for an un-signed player. Hamhuis is going to command somewhere near $4 million, so it's going to be tough. Awesome trade for Joisey. It is more likely the end of Gagne/Carter/Hartnell. Most have believed that it's been the Flyers intentions all along to overpay this summer for a 5th defenseman. If they let Coburn get away, it's sort of for naught. I am expecting to see one (or possibly 2) of those forwards traded between now and the draft, and Hamhuis and Coburn both signed. But who knows what Homer has up his sleeve.
Phightins
Horton to Bruins (still don't know the details yet) and Scott Niedermayer retires. Eventful start to the day. And oh yeah, 2010-2011 schedule released today.
Universe
I'd say it's going to be a big name leaving Boston if it's Horton and someone for one guy. Still going to be even busier come draft time as Hawks have to get under the cap to sign their tenders.
Phightins
Yeah it has to be someone big going to Florida. ECN thinks it will be Bergeron or Krejci. And as for the Blackhawks, word is that Ladd is going to be traded, perhaps to Vancouver.
Phightins
And there we have it.... Horton and Gregory Campbell for Dennis Wideman, 15th overall pick and another draft pick. Done.
Universe
Good deal by the Bruins. If they can resign Campbell too because he's a decent bottom line player. Also, Selanne is retiring too. Big names I grew up with leaving the NHL. Sad day.
Phightins
The most important part about acquiring Campbell is that they now have the league office, and in specific the league disciplinarian, on their side.
Universe
Evgeni Nabokov will have a new team next year.
Phightins
And we have our first blockbuster.... Thrashers get Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel, and Akim Aliu for a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Marty Reasoner and Jeremy Morin. Universe
Least there going to Atlanta...but we will see how the rest of the team is built around them.
Phightins
Thrashers overpaid, at first glance. That's a big price to pay for a couple plugs (Eager and Sopel) and a dude in Byfuglien that is still relatively unknown. If they put him on the right line he can be dominant, but he sure as hell won't have anything close to Toews/Kane to work with.
Universe
Oh for sure especailly since the Hawk HAD to trade him.
Phightins
So I guess this means Ladd can stay.
Phightins
Sounds like Jose Theodore is not going to be resigned by the Capitals. I'd have to guess he's a strong possibility for the Flyers.
Universe
Sharks re-sign Marleau and Pavelski. Marleau 4 yrs, $6.9 per year. Pavelski $4 mil per year. I don't feel as bad about Pleks anymore.
Phightins
Bruins re-sign Boychuk as well. And the Canadiens are chatting with Carey Price about his next contract.
