Farmar likely gone

Recommended Posts

- Farmar stated that while he’s extremely proud of playing a role in two championship teams - particularly in his native Los Angeles - he’s hoping to move forward to the next stage of his personal career. Farmar would like the opportunity to lead a team as he did the scout teams while preparing L.A.’s starters to go against their respective playoff opponents, and is confident that he could do so.

- (Describing what he wants): “I want to see what kind of player I can be in this league. I know I can do a lot, I know I can lead a team. I definitely want to win and that’s important to me, but I don’t know if I could look back at my career if I didn’t get a chance to see what kind of player I can be. I want to see what I can do on the floor every night in this league.”

- Farmar said that he, Phil Jackson and Mitch Kupchak were all “at peace” with his situation moving forward, though he couldn’t comment specifically on their conversation.

- Farmar mentioned how well Derek Fisher played and how important his leadership is and thought that Fisher (also a free agent) may have the edge in terms of L.A.’s point guard position. Farmar again implied that if he were to be in a different situation, he’s certainly want the opportunity to start and show what he can do. “I feel like I can do so, so, so much more.”

He'll learn, just as Ariza did. And we'll replace him, just as we did Ariza.

comparing him to Ariza is disrespectful

i wanted Trevor back, i dont give a [expletive] where Farmar goes. he barely cut it as our backup PG, good luck finding a starting gig elsewhere LMFAO

don't let the door hit you on the way out. he is the only player on our roster that i legitimately hate, i hate his attitude and his game. this is like a christmas present for me, finally he will be off our roster (please dont do anything dumb Mitch, let him go)

I wanted Ariza back, also, until he didn't want to come back. The thing with his agent is BS. These players are adults, and they are the ones paying their agents. They make the final decision. Ariza wanted the lights to himself, and that's what he got. We ended up with a better defensive player to replace him, and it paid off in the end.

And yes, I can't really stand Farmar, either. Good for us.

My only qualms about him leaving is that we could of traded him when we had the chance and we didn't. Oh well.

Looking forward to finding an actual back-up point guard now.

Brown was more of a PG than Farmar.

Truth is...

Fisher

Farmar

Brown

Vujacic

They are all shooting guards in point guard bodies. All four. None of them play like a point guard, and none of them have legit point guard skills.

We need a point guard that can make the post-entry pass, knock down shots, and defend. Doesn't have to be at a high level, either...just show those three things, and you're as good as gold to us.

Do you think the Lakers could have won with Ariza rather than Artest?

Actually, give us a 100% Bynum...sort of changes things. While Pierce would've had his way with Trevor, I think we could've had enough production from Drew to stick with them and win the series. Kobe would eventually switch over to Pierce, and Trevor would be on Ray.

We'd lose offensive production from Kobe, but we'd gain it in Drew.

It would be a good thing to let him go. The Lakers need a starting PG, and Farmar isn't the answer. Fisher can remain as a back up.

Steve Blake wants to play for Miami. I believe he said so himself, though I am not entirely sure. He grew up in south florida.

Shaun Livingston, Raymond Felton, and Luke Ridnour would also be good pick ups. Felton is ideal, though I'm not sure if the Lakers can afford him.

Dorell Wright is also a player that can shoot, handle the rock, and guard PGs, though the Heat didn't always trust him to run the point. He'd be a risky decision, but could become a high reward.

Well...Let's see what happens. I personally would love to see the Lakers crumble because they lost FARMAR!

Blake would probably be the ideal PG as he's a cheap yet effective player, knows the game well, is a pass first PG, a pretty decent defender, is tough (didn't back down from Dwight Howard) and can knock down the three point shot.

Ridnour is a no, for sure. I could tape a basketball to a computer chair, roll it out on the court, and Luke wouldn't be able to stop it from getting into the paint.

I mentioned him because he is ideal offensively, and his shooting ability would be a huge benefit for the team's offense.

I have a feeling that he will be making some good money this summer. Plenty of teams would love to have a point guard like him, and he doesn't have any loyalties swaying his decision other than Miami, who will likely be spending most of their money elsewhere anyway.

Oh, I know...I just don't think I can scream anymore at the point guard position than I did this season. Had Kobe not flipped over to defend Westbrook in the last two games of that OKC/LAL series, we would've been out in the first round, no joke.

And I'd hate to think of what Rondo would've done to Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar in the NBA Finals. He dominated when Kobe was in foul trouble, and most of his points came with others on him.
