Guest STL10
Grade for Golden State: A- It is harder to figure out the rationale for Milwaukee considering what they did well last season. While Maggette’s offensive numbers would help a team that will be looking for firepower after John Salmons opted out and Michael Redd is still on the mend, yet Maggette makes more than $10 million per season and is neither a #1 scorer nor a lead defender. Furthermore, the fit of Maggette on a team with a coach like Scott Skiles who values defense will be fascinating to say the least. The improvement we saw out of Brandon Jennings on the defensive end over the course of his rookie season will need to be a drop in the water compared to a potential sea change for Maggette for him to stay out of Skiles’ doghouse. That said, having a guy who can get to the line can always be a good thing to get an offense going and gain momentum at various points. As a team that I loved watching last season, I sincerely hope to be wrong on this, yet the fit seems dubious for the price paid for two seasons with a likely reduced cap through the next CBA and expiring contracts that could have yielded talent at the deadline. Check my Stats
Pretty much co-sign the grades, horrible deal for Bucks.
Jenneral
We actually saved some money (about $2 M) for the first year. I guess Hammond & Co. decided that even though we would've had a ton of cap space next year that there would be no one worthy of spending it on. This seems to be more likely now that Carmelo is close to signing an extension with the Nuggets.
