What Recent Moves Mean for Milwaukee

Yesterday Bucks GM John Hammond was very active as we approach the NBA Draft. First he sent Dan Gadzuric and Charlie Bell to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for swingman Corey Maggette. This trade essentially got rid of two dead-weight players in order to add a strong contributor to a team trying to make the playoffs for consecutive years.

 

Following this move, Hammond was able to muscle out another deal. This time he sent out a future second-round draft pick in exchange for Nets Chris Douglas-Roberts, a former second-round pick.

 

What do these two recent moves mean for the Milwaukee Bucks?

 

It appears as if the Bucks would now take a pass on Paul George, forward, if he were still on the board at 15. By adding two forwards in one night there would be no need to add another one through the draft, regardless of talent.

 

More moves may also be a possibility. By adding two more forwards the Bucks are now overloaded at that position. A deal including Delfino, Mbah a Moute, or Ilyasova may be in the works in an effort to thin out that position. Delfino would appear to be the odd man out if a deal was to be made.

 

Now the move everyone is questioning, whether or not the Bucks will still attempt to resign SG John Salmons. Earlier today Hammond stated that the Bucks will still make a push for the shooting guard that helped them to a postseason appearance.

 

"We would love to have John Salmons back here and I think he knows how badly we want him back and our intention is to do that. Whether we can get that done, who knows? But our hope is to do that."

 

Draft night could prove to be a very interesting one for the Bucks. As it stands now it appears as if more moves may be fast approaching. The Bucks will go into the draft with four draft picks, one first rounder and three second rounders.
