magicbalala245
One hot rumor being bandied about – The Hornets send Paul to the Boston Celtics for SF Paul Pierce and the Celtics’ first round pick in the Draft. Could these two All-Stars be switching uniforms during tomorrow night's NBA Draft?Right now, it is just being reported as a rumor. No trade has taken place, and it may not even be imminent. But parts of it could make sense for both teams. Pierce has a player option for $21 million for this upcoming season. Whether he signs it or not, it will eventually free up cap space for his team. And receiving another first round pick for New Orleans would also be nice, where this year’s Draft is fairly deep. It could also make sense for Boston. Pierce is not the player he was a couple of years ago, and there is no guarantee he will pick up his option and not opt out of his current contract to look elsewhere. With only five or six big name free agents, there will be a number of teams who will miss out on them and still want to bring in a big draw. Anyone thinking Celtics could be trading Rondo if this happens? Then Paul Pierce opts out with the Hornets and comes back to Boston with KG, CP3, and perhaps Ray Allen. Owner Real Deal Posted June 23, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 LOL, not a chance. For one, Rondo is Boston's future. While CP3 is the better point guard, Rondo actually does more on the court and could very well surpass Paul in the next 3-4 years (laugh all you want, but if he gets a jumper, he could be one of the best players in the NBA). Boston won't ditch Pierce, either. That would be similar to the Lakers throwing Kobe to the curb after 13-14 seasons. Finally, New Orleans can get better, assuming they get the notion that Pierce will just take a hike after one season. Unrealistic.

The Regime
Rumor makes absolutely no sense lol, as Brandon said Rondo has the potential to overtake Paul. And Paul Pierce is the only guy that hasn't regressed all that much among the Big Three, he probably has a couple more solid seasons left in him. If I'm the Celtics I would check and see what kind of trade value KG has, if you can bring in a one or two nice young pieces that why not deal him. CaliCurbStomppa
Why would they do that if both Rondo/CP play the point guard? Then you got Ray Allen at the SG.

Nitro
Doesn't make sense on so many levels. What also doesn't make sense to me is people forgetting just how good Paul is when he's healthy. IMO he's the best PG in the league and top 5 overall. Rondo is great, but people are riding his dick wayyyy too much because of Boston's surprising run to the Finals. Except for rebounding, there really isn't an area I'd say he's surely better than Paul in (and Paul is a MUCH better scorer and leader). Paul, is easily the best and best offensive player on his team so of course, his PPG are high. Rondo has a lot of weapons on offence on his team so he dosen't need to be a great scorer. When the Big Three leave you'll see how good Rondo is of a scorer. Edited June 24, 2010 by AllenIverson#1fan

Flight
Rondo's a top 5 PG if you consider the future (barely... I mean CP3 and DWill at 1 and 2, Rose I'd say is 3, then Rondo and guys like Westbrook, Evans, and soon to be John Wall among others are fighting for that fifth spot), but CP3 almost won the MVP the year Kobe finally got it. Ever since, the team's been weaker and he's had injuries, but his numbers have gotten better in some areas. He's worth so much more than an aging PP, and even though New Orleans has a SF need and Collison, NO isn't competing for a title next year, and Boston doesn't need to have two of the top 4 or 5 PGs in the league fighting for the ball (only fighting for it to dish, but still). Makes no sense on either side. Edited June 24, 2010 by FreeAgent
JWaLL
He probably will. He's already stated Boston is where he wants to be.Like that means anything? All that matters is if Boston wants Ray. Doc wants Ray back, but he doesn't speak for the Celtics' front office. He could be as good as gone.

When the Big Three leave you'll see how good Rondo is of a scorer. The Celtics sure could have used Rondo's ability to score in the Finals but he was nowhere to be found. Do you honestly think Kobe would be able to play center-field against Chris Paul? Paul would have eaten him alive. Last year Paul shot 49% from the field (was over 50% pre-injury), 41% from 3 and 85% from the line, and his AST:TO ratio was a ridiculous 10.7:2.5 (Rondo was 9.8:3.0). Basically my point was just countering how highly some people think of Rondo, and how quickly people forget how incredible Paul is just because the Hornets had a down year and he was injured. magicbalala245
I think this could be a set up trade. New Orleans know's Paul Pierce wouldn't stay so Pierce would opt out (which would give the Hornets cap relief) and come back to Boston who knows maybe for the mid level. And Celtics weakness in the Finals against my Lakers was Rondo's jump shooting against us. Celtics could address this and have a team of CP3, Paul Pierce, KG and perhaps Ray Allen, & Rondo could be dealt somewhere. Allen would be a free agent, and they would deal Rondo as a salary dump. Rondo to Kings for 2 1st Round Picks anyone?
Nitro
Celtics aren't dumping Rondo. He's too young with too much potential. And if that trade did somehow happen, it certainly won't be for only 2 1st round picks.
Flight
If the Hornets dump salary like this, it'd be Posey, Peja, or Meka. They aren't going to just dump the best PG in the game because he's a spendy contract.
