Jerry West has to be in there somewhere...

He did help the Lakers win 3 championships. He drafted Kobe Bryant, and got Shaq.

Pat Riley is nowhere near the best GM in the NBA. It doesn't take any sort of skill to gut a roster and not put a good roster together for 3 years in anticipation for a single free agency period.

Give me Spurs GM, whoever that is.

What about winning a championship in 2006?

One well constructed team (even though that team was pretty badly constructed honestly) doesn't make you a good GM, he is so overrated by Heat fans it is ridiculous, they would trust him with their first born child for [expletive] sakes. How long has he been in charge for? How many good seasons have they had?

No Hammond? Pretty sure he won it last year and is already wheelin' and dealin' this year.

Not even close, his trade this off-season to kick it off was horrible, not to mention the drafting of Alexander in such a deep draft was pathetic as well, not to mention they drafted Yi when he didn't want to go there, which was a HUGE gamble.... that team is not very well managed at all, in my opinion.

Pritchard went on a nice run assembling a lot of young talent, but he has been unable to get this team over the hump, the Andre Miller signing was pretty suspect, they should have spent their time developing guys like Bayless rather than signing vets to make a playoff run, when realistically their ceiling would be the 2nd round.

You probably aren't saying Pritchard right now if you signed Hedo to that 5/50 he had agreed to.

That's true about Hedo, but as far as trying for a push, I think Portland could have made it further. They have success against LA, and if matched up against them in the second round they could have made a push for a WCF, where anything can happen really.

That's where this "poll" is tainted. Is it all-time, this coming season, or recent years? Hammond won last year after a series of good moves including dealing Jefferson and the mid-season deal for Salmons. Also, don't be so quick to judge his most recent move as we really got a productive player in exchange for two players who never would have seen the court this coming season. Hammond is still in talks with Salmons and thinks they will still be able to reach a deal (we actually have more money now with Maggette on the roster).

The following roster could do some serious damage in the East.

Jennings/Ridnour

Salmons/#15

Maggette/Delfino

Ilyasova/Mbah a Moute

Bogut/draft pick
