Need4Sheed
That's cool. It will be like the Suns all over again. Well somewhat.
NomarFachix
Broussard has stated the Knicks are offering Joe Johnson a max deal at 12:01 on Thursday. Not sure if I believe it, or even like it... But that's what he says.
magicbalala245
This plan B is Plan A now. Knicks know they ain't got no shot landing on landing the queen.
Cleveland's Finest
Wow....Joe Johnson doesn't deserve a max deal. People always put him in the upper echelon of players. Look at his playoff performance vs. Orlando, being booed off by Atl. The first team to be let down by free agency after years of excitement and hype.....the New York Knicks. Agree Joe Johnson is vastly overrated to say he is one of the top SG in the league is ridiculously. This guy is not even top 5 and a lot of ESPN analysts rate this guy a top 5 SG in the game. Cleveland's Finest
Sort of like LBJ, Joe Johnson's playoff performance last year has been forgotten and it seems as though teams are ignoring the players success when it matters. Come playoffs when these guys are tested, they'll regret handing this money out.
magicbalala245
Sort of like LBJ, Joe Johnson's playoff performance last year has been forgotten and it seems as though teams are ignoring the players success when it matters. Come playoffs when these guys are tested, they'll regret handing this money out. No one has forgotten LeBron's performance in the playoffs. Reason people are going after LeBron is cause what he can potentially do with a second star with him. There's no potential what so ever if you pair up Joe Johnson let's say perhaps an Amar'e you think that team will make an NBA Finals appearance . Douglas, Chandler, Johnson, Gallo, Amar'e would be a very good starting 5 in the East... I'm not saying they'd make the Finals, but compared to what I've watched for a decade? I'd love it. Chance to win every night.
JYD
it would be a HUGE mistake to give johnson a MAX deal. question: can the knicks offer TWO max deals this summer, or just one?
NomarFachix
2 I've also heard rumblings of Curry for Rip Hamilton after the FA period, sign me up for that as well.
Nitro
Johnson does NOT deserve a max, but bringing him in along with a big-name FA PF would make the Knicks a very respectable team (assuming they fill in the other roster holes with more than low-contract prospects). They won't contend for a title, but they can contend for possibly homecourt advantage. If they can't get Bron or Wade, then they have to do SOMETHING. The notion that they can just wait another year and maybe get Melo or one of the other 2011 FA's would be a horrible mistake. Knicks fans have waited too long on possibility. It's time to start winning. Edited June 28, 2010 by Nitro1118
NomarFachix
I have a question, if the Knicks do a S&T with Hotlanta for Johnson, using, say, Chandler and Curry, would that leave them with cap for 3 guys? Johnson as a building block with 2 to go would be pretty intriguing for the other guys. Not sure at all of the answer, if anyone knows that would be cool. JYD
If the Knicks could land like Wade and Bosh that would be sick too. I'm fine with that. But they need to get LeBron, or they need to get TWO F.A.'s. The ultimate disaster would be giving Johnson a max and getting no other big name F.A.. The Artesticle
If the Knicks end up getting Johnson and Boozer I will LMFAO The 2010 free agency was so hyped up and they end up with jack. lol Not to mention all those wasted draft picks they traded away. Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer won't get them anywhere near a title. It's Lebron/Bosh/Wade or bust.
Jonah
I know that it will be a huge disappointment with out LBJ or WADE. But if this team signs JJ and either Boozer or Amare, and resigns lee I think they could be a pretty decent team.
