Celtics expected to reduce Pierce's minutes

The Celtics are expected to reduce Paul Pierce's playing time next season, in an effort to keep the 31-year-old fresh throughout the year.

"If my minutes go down, I don’t really mind," Pierce said. "It’s all about winning at the end of the day." Pierce played in 81 regular-season games last year, averaging a team-high 37.5 minutes per game (exactly matching his career average in 813 games). Boston doesn't have much depth at the moment, but they're still in the market for a backup SF. Jul. 12 - 11:28 am et

Lol Celtics will be playing the Ray and Pierce still, KG will get more rest with Sheed in the mix though. Who do the Celtics even have as a backup SF right now? THey are gonna need a miracle signing, because if you think Moon is going to give you 15 minutes of consistent quality production you are in for a rude awakening.

That is why getting Grant would have been HUGE for the Celtics.

Basically this is easier said then done.

I guess this explains why they were going after Grant Hill. I doubt this will happen though, they just don't have a lot of small forward depth. Expect at least 35-36 minutes from him a game. That's barely a reduction.

We dont want him for offense, all he needs to do is play defense and maybe hit a couple of shots. Sheed/House are really the only offensive players we have on our 2nd unit, so if he's a good defender, or at least decent, he'd help.

He's a ballstopper and takes terrible shots. At least he did for the Raptors, maybe over the course of half a year he will have changed. He is an okay defender, overrated IMO because he takes tons of chances and leaves his feet all the time leaving him out of position.

You guys would be better off trading for someone or going after Barnes or someone.

Moon was a terrific player for the Heat and I really hope we re-sign him. He could definitely contribute 15 minutes a game for Boston. He might be the best available option right now if you ask me.
