Bynum, Odom for Bosh, Jack?

Gives us a reliable center (Gasol, full-time), a reliable power forward (Bosh) and a defensive-minded point guard...hits on all cylinders. All willing passers, all versatile triangle players...all healthy (non-Bynum), all consistent (non-Odom).

Now all we need is a free agent signing, to solidify our bench.

What team can defend three excellent isolation players, all three with the ability to drop 25-30?

Bosh/Pau are too soft to go anywhere. We NEED Bynum because he is a more physical defender. Sure Bosh is a better overall player, I don't really care though. Odom can go for all I care, he is too inconsistent.

Jack would be coming off the bench, no way Phil would sit Fisher for a new player in the triangle. I also can't hate on Fisher anymore because he ALWAYS comes through. Hate on him all you want during the regular season, I will enjoy the reward of putting up with him during the regular season for the benefits it reaps during the post season.

Even if the Lakers offer it, I still think Bosh will go to Miami with Wade/LeBron. I also don't see why the Lakers are so persistent on changing a winning formula. 3 straight Finals appearances and 2 straight titles doesn't say, "We need to replace a key anchor on our team."

That's pretty much unfair if the Lake Show got Bosh.

Jack can hit some shots too, but you guys would have to go get a decent big man in free agency, because you'd have none on the bench.

I am a supporter of Shaq for the MLE if Shaq is willing to swallow his ego(which he did a decent job with in Cleveland). Just put Shaq with a coach he has to respect(Riley and Jackson) and he is proven to produce and put up with things he doesn't like in order to win.

We've only needed Bynum for about 15-20 minutes a game, 82 games over the last three seasons, and it has produced two titles. He doesn't even give us double-doubles in the Finals.

Bynum has to be one of the most overrated bigs I've seen since Erick Dampier, when he was putting up his 12/12 in his contract season. Drew is rarely healthy, rarely on the floor when it matters most (plays the first quarter and doesn't come back in), and it's getting pretty old.

Bosh may be a softer player, but Drew's defensive rotations are horrible, and Phil is always in his ear about it. There aren't very many centers that can dominate us offensively, anyway, so I'm not worried about that.

That would be a STEAL for the Lakers. Jack would start for them at PG and they'd put Bosh at PF.

IMO that team would win the Championship the next 3 years.

Depending on Drew's health in the future, this could be a good or bad trade. I'd hate to trade away drew after all the potential and efficiency he's shown offensively. Even defensively he's shown that he could utilize his length well. But it's about time to stop betting on potential.

Also, looking at Drew's salary, he's scheduled take a 3m increase after the 2010-2011 season. This could be a good incentive for the front office to trade him away.

Please dont trade Bynum. He could be a dominant center on both ends that nobody can match up with. Bosh I get the feeling is just softer version of Pau and is very talented offensively but can get abused by just about any PF in the league on the other end.

Jay Williams could've been one of the best point guards in the league had he not gotten into his motorcycle accident.

How many more years are we going to give Drew before he goes down for good, with a salary of $16-17 million?

One more year. If he doesnt work out he has an expiring the following year. One more year and hopefully the beat returns.

He's guaranteed for two more years.

2010-11: $13,842,332

2011-12: $15,157,667

2012-13: $16,473,002 (team option)

I have to agree with Kingfish here, we should give Bynum one more year to prove that he can stay healthy and produce. Bosh has already made it known that he wants to be the centerpiece for a team and not just an addition, in LA he could very well be the #3 option. Also over the last two seasons we've heard plenty of complaints from Pau about not getting enough touches so he wouldn't be a happy camper with his pickup. Bosh isn't much of a defender either, he and Pau would be one of the softest frontcourts in the league, atleast with Bynum he gives us a strong physical presence.

Exactly so in 2011 we can trade him cause he will be en expiring the following year.

Teams won't want him in 2011, they'll be looking to grab him in 2012 (around January or February, before the deadline). Why would a team want Bynum in 2011 if they are just wanting the expiring contract?

Plus, by that time, Buss will just want to let him expire, and we'll be left with nothing. He's already trying to save money as it is. That's $16-17 million, doubled because of the luxury tax (if we go over by that amount).

I know your convinced Bynum is done and Bosh will be better but I think you will be wrong and thankful we keep Bynum if we do. Bynum is a guy you can dump the ball into the post too consistently, throw alley oops, get offensive rebounds for you, and hes also a force on the defensive end. He creates a mismatch for 90 % of the centers in the league. With Bosh I feel like we are getting a solid jump shooter and terrific scorer, but when he starts getting abused by PF's less talented then him I have a feeling everyone will regret it. With Bynum we can be a dominant defensive team and not lose much offensively (might even gain something), with Bosh we become a solid offensive team, a quicker team. But have less depth, less versatility, have no shot at being a dominant defensive team with a Pau-Bosh combo.

Not to mention LO. Bynum + LO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bosh. And we have absolutely no need for J Jack considering all the point guards available in free agency.

Man I am so [expletive]ing sick and tired of Bynum (pardon my language).

LOVE his potential. LOVE him when he's healthy.

But when was the last time he's stayed healthy?

We've been to the Finals three years in a row, and all three years his performances have been underwhelming (or didn't play at all) because of injury. He has been completely unreliable for three postseasons in a row, what makes people think he's going to turn the corner next year? It's gonna be the same thing next year. He'll start out strong before the allstar break, look like the next big thing, suffer an injury and play hindered the rest of the way.

I for one, am ready to deal him if the deal is right. LO has also been extremely disappointing (but that is expected) and played terribly in the Finals. He underperformed in the playoffs as well.

If the right deal comes along it's time to pull the trigger. Stop gambling on Drew's health. This is a deal I'd strongly consider making if I were GM. LO shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Love the trade for the Lakers...if they sign/trade for at least another reliable big and a FA wing that can either create his own shot or defend very well.

Odom, per minute, is a better rebounder than Bosh, and Bynum is about the same and is also a more intimidating defender. Losing both of those guys without getting another big is going to be a problem. And since they would also lose Odom's versatility and Bynum's ability to finish around the rim, they would need to fill up the already weak wing positions with some good talent.

That's also one of the absolute worst benches in the NBA.

We were 25th or 26th in bench scoring for most of the year, also. Losing Odom isn't going to be that big of a deal when we'll more than likely get contributions from a free agent or two. What FA's won't want to be a part of a potential dynasty?

Raja Bell, Matt Barnes, Tracy McGrady, Mike Miller...all of these guys have already expressed interest.

Besides his passing/court vision, which is extremely underrated, you would HATE T-Mac if he comes into next season in similar shape that he was on the Knicks. He just couldn't move last year...like, at all. He couldn't even finish that wide-open fastbreak dunk 2 years ago on the Rockets, and now he's about 15lbs heavier and been through microfracture surgery. Somehow his shooting manages to get worse and worse every year, and he was already just an average defender when he was arguably the most athletic/talented player in the league.

You seem to be very focused on defense, shooting and toughness...unless he bathes in the fountain of youth every night and manages to work his [expletive] off in the off-season, you'll get none of that from him.

So, get this...

1) The FO states that we will not spend our MLE this season...and if anything, just part of it.

2) We decline to offer Farmar a contract, and we are basically letting him go.

3) Phil Jackson comes back for a final season.

4) Mike Miller is offered a 5-year, $30 million contract (the MLE).

5) We ignore the point guard spot that we were rumored to be focused on.

I have this gut feeling we are shooting for Bosh, and Bynum is part of the trade. Odom as well? Either way, it's weird to me because Miller has nowhere to play on this roster, not with the role Odom has. Ignoring the point guard position? We need one, even if he's a bench PG.

The Bosh deal could include Jarrett Jack, as rumored. Keep in mind that this was actually offered in February, the Bosh/Bynum trade. Not sure if it included Lamar, but you'd have to wonder.

Starting Gasol and Bosh, then bringing Odom off the bench with Miller...that's crushing. If we trade Odom with Drew, okay...but I'm starting to wonder what's brewing in Toronto and in LA.

I really don't think it'll happen. I'd say Miller certainly has a spot on the roster...the Lakers have nothing at the wing positions on the bench. They need a shooter and a player who's unselfish, and Miller fits that mold perfectly.

I do agree that they still desperately need a backup PG, but the absolute worst case scenario is they make a deal toward the trade deadline. Vujacic will be an expiring contract I believe worth about $5M, and they will have a few draft picks to dangle out there as well.

In the meantime, I guess Earl Watson wouldn't be a horrible, cheap backup.
