The Regime
Orlando Magic starting small forward Matt Barnes' first preference as a free agent would be to try to win a title without needing to pack for another move. But if he doesn't re-sign with the Magic, Barnes said Monday that he believes there are options for him — with other contenders. Before signing with the Magic last summer, Barnes said the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs were among the heavyweights who showed interest and he feels he's still on their lists. "I'm out in L.A. and I've heard that the Lakers are definitely interested. But who knows?" Barnes told the Sentinel by phone from Los Angeles, where the former UCLA forward attended John Wooden's memorial service and the BET Awards and is also planning his wedding. "I've heard a lot of rumors about a lot of things." Barnes said he also has heard that the Magic perhaps are looking to swing a deal for a prime free agent. Shooting guard Vince Carter, reserve center Marcin Gortat and back-up small forward Mickael Pietrus have been among the names mentioned in trade scuttlebutt. "I hope we can get all our pieces back, but you never know," Barnes said. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/os-magic-matt-barnes-0629-20100628,0,7004216.story

The Regime
He's not exactly popular amongst us Laker fans, but he could make a solid impact. Good defender, decent three point shooter, and he crashes the boards and hustles. If we can get him cheap then I say we go for it. Teletopez
Or they're going after anyone who has gotten into a scuffle with Kobe at one point in time. They brought Artest over, and now we hear about Bell and Barnes.
bigdog17k
I personally wouldn't care, I didn't think Orlando would really go after him again anyway. Haha, I get to hear all the Laker fans [expletive] about Barnes last year, now if they get him he'll be "a really good player" to them. Nitro
If the Lakers are willing to go for Bell, who had the most publicized feud with Kobe besides Shaq, then I'm sure they won't have a problem going for Barnes.
