Orlando Magic is supposed to already been in discussions with the Canadian team, regarded as one of the best in the league’s Eastern Conference.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Toronto Raptors have offered to trade their Turkish player, Hedo Turkoglu, for the Pole, who may be transferred alongside French team-mate Mickael Pietrus.

“We’ve had conversations with the Raptors and nothing transpired,” Otis Smith, manager of Orlando Magic told the Sentinel.

back when pietrus and Kopono were on the market, i was preying that the raps would take Pietrus, he does all the little things that make a team successful.

with Bosh on the way out, a lineup of Jack/Calderon, Demar, Pietrus, Bargs, and Gortat could be decent, and would give all of the raps young guns a chance to grow.

i mean unless someone absolutely explodes for the raps this year, or a great trade of Calderons contract comes up, this looks to be a pretty sad year for the raps.

Id love to see them just commit to rebuilding, and Pietrus' contract expires next year i believe.

I just threw up in my mouth a little..

I don't want that boy on the Magic anymore. He'd be with us until 2014, when he's 35, sheeeeeeeeit. Ya know, the Raptors just need to be really sucky for one year then get a top 3 draft pick.

Basically how I feel, he had a chance and blew it IMO. Could have stayed last year... he wasn't even in danger of losing his role...

So the Magic didn't want to give him that contract last year, he went on to have one of his worst seasons in the league, and now the Magic want to bring him and his contract back while giving up two important role players in the process???

Ummm....ok....

Like BlueDevil said, I was hoping that Colangelo would sign Pietrus when he gave Kapono that absurd contract. I think he would be a very good backup for DeRozan, assuming that he wouldn't have a problem coming off of the bench on a team like Toronto.

As for Gortat, I've never really understood wht the fuss was about. I think he is drastically overpaid and is nothing more than a decent backup center. I admit to not having seen him play all that much, but even when I have watched him play I never came away thinking that he has been held back by Howard in Orlando.

Acquiring him makes sense though in terms of moving Bargnani to the 4 and not rushing both Davis and Alabi, especially Alabi. He can allow them to come along slowly and be a serviceable enough center for the time being.

Despite my feelings towards Gortat, obviously I would jump all over this deal. The Raptors don't save money for the first two years, in fact, they actually will be spending more money than they would if they simply kept Turkoglu, but once Pietrus' contract finishes after the 2012 season (I'm assuming he picks up his player option for 2011/12) the Raptors will be saving around $5M or so, which makes the deal worth it.

If this trade happens and the rumoured Bosh S&T happens, the Raptors are going to have an absolute cluster[expletive] at the 4/5 spots next season, especially if the Raptors use Beasley as a 4 and not a 3.

PG: Jack/Calderon/Chalmers

SG: DeRozan/Pietrus

SF: Beasley/Weems

PF: Bargnani/Davis/Johnson/Dorsey

C: Gortat/Anthony/Alabi

God, that lineup is awful.

FIXED! Beasley would be a better fit at PF in that offense, and Bargnani isn't a good rebounder.

Bargnani at the small forward is an absolutely retarded idea. He can't play small forward.

I don't care if Bargnani is an awful rebounder, playing him at small forward is an absoutely stupid idea.

It didn't work with Chris Bosh and Jermaine O'Neal, so why exactly would it work with Michael Beasley and Marcin Gortat?

Maybe because O'Neal shouldn't of played Center ever?

IDK though bad trade all around for everyone.

O'Neal is fine at Center. He's not the twig he once was when he was on the Blazers/early Pacers years. Last year as the Heat Center the team had one of the best defenses in the league, outrebounded teams (without having any rebounder over 8.8RPG), and out-blocked teams by over 1 full block per game. He's very capable of playing Center. He doesn't grab a ton of boards anymore, but he's a very good defender.
