Wall2Wall
Too bad the EA NHL series developers don't make all sports games. If they did.....damn! Every game would be sick!Agreed. NHL 11 will be the greatest sports game ever made. As for 2K11, I could care less about the dumb Jordan Challenge, My Player mode, and other useless crap like that. I want good gameplay. I was leaning towards Elite 11 for the first time in 6 years, but this preview of 2K11 made me stick with 2K because it sounds like they FINALLY tweaked the gameplay to be more authentic. JWaLL
As players progress through The Jordan Challenge, they'll see Jordan himself change, in both face and physical characteristics. His (and all players') uniforms will be period-specific - not just in design but in cut and style. Presentation also will change to reflect the era; graphics and audio will resemble games in the 1980s, early 1990s, or late 1990s. We went out and got the rights to the actual players from each era and spent a ton of time capturing their signature shots, moves, and tendencies. They went into painstaking detail to include the old-school arena floors and in some instances the actual arenas Though you can only play as the Bulls in "The Jordan Challenge" all of the teams it features, like current teams, will be playable in the game's Quick Game, Association, Playoffs, and Season mode. 1985-86 Chicago Bulls 20 Gene BanksRon BrewerTony Brown40 Dave Corzine44 Quintin Dailey8 George Gervin21 Sidney GreenRod Higgins10-32 Mike Holton23 Michael Jordan24 Kyle MacyBilly McKinney34 Charles Oakley33 Jawann Oldham15 John PaxsonMike Smrek0 Orlando Woolridge 1985-86 Boston Celtics 44 Danny Ainge33 Larry Bird34 Rick Carlisle3 Dennis Johnson50 Greg Kite32 Kevin McHale00 Robert Parish12 Jerry Sichting45 David Thirdkill11 Sam Vincent5 Bill Walton8 Scott Wedman35 Sly Williams 1989-90 Chicago Bulls 24 Bill Cartwright40 Dave Corzine22 Charles Davis54 Horace Grant15 Jack Haley14 Craig Hodges22 Anthony Jones23 Michael Jordan45 Ed Nealy4 John Paxson32 Will Perdue33 Scottie Pippen12 Dominic Pressley6 Brad Sellers11 Sam Vincent34 David Wood 1989-90 Atlanta Hawks 10 John Battle35 Antoine Carr33 Duane Ferrell32 Jon Koncak53 Cliff Levingston34 John Long2 Moses Malone22 Roy Marble1 Wes Matthews25 Doc Rivers31 Kenny Smith11 Sedric Toney8 Alexander Volkov4 Spud Webb21 Dominique Wilkins35 Mike Williams42 Kevin Willis14 Haywoode Workman 1989-90 Cleveland Cavaliers 20 Winston Bennett52 Chucky Brown33 Derrick Chievous43 Brad Daugherty24 Chris Dudley3 Craig Ehlo4 Ron Harper5 Steve Kerr31 Randolph Keys44 Paul Mokeski23 John Morton22 Larry Nance25 Mark Price30 Tree Rollins54 Gary Voce18 Hot Rod Williams2 Reggie Williams 1989-90 Detroit Pistons 23 Mark Aguirre20 William Bedford4 Joe Dumars53 James Edwards33 Dave Greenwood35 Scott Hastings12 Gerald Henderson15 Vinnie Johnson3 Stan Kimbrough40 Bill Laimbeer35 Ralph Lewis10 Dennis Rodman22 John Salley11 Isiah Thomas 1990-91 Chicago Bulls 10 B.J. Newman
NBA Elite 11 Preview just came out as well: Link The screenshots don't thrill me and apparently it needs a bit work before it gets released.
JWaLL
Elite looks way too complex with the new complete control system and the difficult targeting of jumpshots. 2k is upping the way their game is played but it doesn't sound anywhere near as difficult as Elite, but still manages to sound way better. I'm assuming all of our OTR members will be getting 2k over Elite.

I just have a feeling the learning curve is going to be way to long for Elite where people who play the demo will be like "wow this is way too complicated, I'm going with 2k." Plus I'd go with 2k regardless just because I'm used to it. From the way the association mode is set up, to the overall base of the gameplay. It's just comfortable to me so I doubt I'll be switching. Plus, the Jordan Challenge sounds like a lot of fun.

Owner Real Deal Posted August 14, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted August 14, 2010 Looks like 2k10. Glad they have Jordan's signature dunk in there, though. That's sick.
EastCoastNiner
There is no way it's the best sports game ever. . The NBA series is the 2nd worst out of sports games. NHL and Fifa lead the way, with Madden in the next slot.

Dash
2k10 was bad like that until the 3rd patch fixed the game. Patches actually made the game worse. Before I never had to worry about my big men camping at the 3. As for the trailer it looks pretty good. People said that 2k10 was the same thing as 2k9 during its first trailer but when we got more information it started to look much, much better. Nitro
From the reviews I have read about people who have actually played the rough-draft version of the game, they seemed to have made a lot of improvements from a gameplay standpoint. That's what makes the NBA2K series so great. The graphics also supposedly are better in-game, but some of the improvements to the gameplay are very promising. Cleveland's Finest
I hope they don't focus on all these MJ modes so much that they don't have time for association improvements, sort of like how Madden completely ignored franchise mode this year. EastCoastNiner
MLB the show comes before NHL MLB the show is up there, but baseball games are not as fine-tuned in general, and MLB the show is the same in that sense. It's not on the same level as NHL and Fifa.
Wall2Wall
JOHN WALL! He barely moved his body when he did the dance and he wasn't smiling. The graphics don't look any better than 2k10. They're focusing too hard on stupid old school players when we're in the year 2010 rather than making the game better. Still looks good, just saying. And NHL 11 is gonna be the best sports game ever, without a doubt.
EastCoastNiner
I play a bunch of 2k tournaments at school throughout the year, but it's annoying when you can dunk from the three point line and get stupid [expletive] like that... JWaLL
Not sure if anyone has seen these, but a few videos were leaked from a German video game convention. Looks very fluid considering it's an early stage demo. Here's a few random one's I decided to post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2pT4Wtx11w&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZZ866bw-Is&feature=related
