Elite is going down this year cause of the Jordan stuff in 2k.

And I get the feeling you guys havent played Live very much. Live has had better game play the last few years, and im not kidding. You can actually play defense in Live, you actually make contact with defenders when going to the paint, the computer doesnt let people walk prance into the paint at will. In 2k you drive baseline and get an easy layup, you can walk into the paint anytime you want and the computer wont ever try to play D, you can pretty much score all your points in the paint. For those of you in the OTR 2k10 league with me, you know what I mean. So yeah basically in Live you can actually play D, which gives it better game play I think. 2k has the better presentation and graphics by far, maybe not this year but in the last few years 2k easily has the advantage graphically. Its just the gameplay has always been underrated for Live.

^ I've played the live demo, and the amount of ways you can cheese in NBA live FAR outweighs the amount of ways you can cheese in NBA 2K.

There are faults in 2K10 that a lot of gamers abuse to get their rank up. It mostly revolves around on-ball steal animations, full-court charges, lead passes, and especially the impossible to block/contest inside finishing animations usually along the baseline. Don't abuse those faults (referred to as a "sim" game), and 2K10 is a pretty realistic game.

In Live 10, animations are far worse. Point guards dribble like middle schoolers (they'll dribble as high as their shoulders = easy strip in real life). You can abuse the dribble move stick to get all the way into the paint, and just tap that x button for an easy layup. Shot animations look very choppy and too video game-like as well.

Believe me, I've really given NBA Live a chance. If you think defense in 2K is bad, where help defense is at least somewhat existent, then Live is a total nightmare. The game feels like it was made by casual sports fans that occasionally watch basketball.

The concept of "The Next Movement" and "Isomotion" was introduced in 2004 by 2k.

It is largely considered the first NBA game to suggest those two ideas.

Flash forward to 2010...

Hands-On Control

NBA ELITE 11 reinvents the entire basketball experience by allowing you to take control and showcase your skills. For the first time in a basketball video game, all elements of the experience are based on skill, not luck. With the left stick controlling your feet, and the right stick controlling your hands (one-to-one dribbling, shooting, passing, stealing, blocking etc), NBA ELITE 11 offers the most authentic basketball experience yet.

Real Physics

Radically improved game physics rid the days of locked animated sequences leaving you in control of the player at all times. When you drive aggressively to the net and go up with authority, you can be sure that whoever is standing in your way has a pretty good chance of getting tossed to the ground.

Haven't we been through this rodeo before?

Weight and momentum?

We get it you don't like Elite. Now stop.

I do like Elite, I just don't like that EA promotes themselves as "innovative" and "breaking into new ground"

They are LIARS, and need to admit that they are using old concepts.

Elite's RTP need to be implemented in every sports game, but they failed at it.

  • 3 weeks later...

This year, we set extremely ambitious goals for our new franchise, NBA ELITE. We are creating a game that will introduce several breakthrough features that have been missing from the basketball genre. Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month’s launch. We are going to keep working until we’re certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience.
