Do you guys like the idea of a "Super Team"?

Would you guys like the idea of your team putting together 3 super stars? Its great having three star powers on the team, but to be able to get that to work financially you would have to completely gut the roster. For instance if the Heat were going to put Wade, Lebron, and Bosh together Michael Beasly would have to be used in a sign and trad deal. Then team would be made up of the big three, and Mario Chalmers. You would have to fill 9 more roster spots with players willing to sign for the league minimum. I guess next summer you would have a full MLE to use, but it just seems like it would be tough to put a team around the big three.

As cool as it sounds, the rest of the players on that team would most likely suck so I'm really not sure about it.

A "big three" can be built in many ways, though. You know how it is, haha. Boston pulled it off, while having the role players to go along with it, and they won a title the first season.

 

Los Angeles has a big three, because Bynum is a double-double when healthy, but I won't dive into that much because they've won two consecutive rings with him injured and playing 15+ minutes a game.

 

But the way teams have tossed everything aside to offer the three max deals...it's not the same. Bringing in those three players using free agency just seems like a bad move, at least attempting to, because if you hit and miss with two superstars, you probably won't get the third, either.

Dont like the idea of 2 superstars joining together cause they cant win it alone.

I definitly understand it can be done, but those two teams acquired there big three through trades, there was already a supporting cast when the final pieces came together. If it were to happen in Miami though, the team would have to completely start from scratch. They would have to go get there big three, and then build around them. You know what I mean?

Well, that's what I was saying. I don't like the idea of trying to acquire three superstar free agents, because it's impossible to do that AND maintain a good supporting cast, mainly because of the salary cap.

 

Of course, doing it through trades works, especially when you have a high payroll.

 

Funny thing is...the Knicks were topping $120 million at one point, and didn't get it done. Now they are at about $19 million, and if they come out of the fire with a couple of stars instead of superstars, it may cripple that franchise for a long time.

It would be cool/epic to see this 'super team' come together and take on the Lakers.... LBJ+Wade or LBJ+Bosh or whatever in the finals would be epic, of course LBJ's title would have an asterisk next to it for playing with Wade or Bosh I am sure.
