You can go to Options -> My NBA -> Game Sliders/NBA Rules to make these changes, or you can go to Feature -> 2K Share -> Downloads -> Game Sliders (Search: OTR), and just download them quickly (though you still have to manually make the rule changes yourself).

NOTE: Be Sure to LOAD the sliders after downloading them.

Anyway, here is what I've come up with for the slider changes that will be made in our NBA 2k10 league. They are to make the games more realistic and more difficult to score offensively. I don't think they are quite perfect yet, so if there is anything you don't like please let me know.

The following will show what the changes are, how they will affect the game, and suggestions on how to score effectively with these changes. It may look complicated since a wrote a whole lot, but it's really just a quick download. I'm giving you guys a chance to practice these sliders before we start the league. So here are the details...

Charging Foul: 20

Blocking Foul: 55

Reaching Foul: 65

Shooting Foul: 85

Loose Ball Foul: 50

What to expect:

With these slider adjustments, you will have more difficulty...:

  • • Dunking over defenders
    • Scoring in the paint
    • Making contested shots
    • Making contested layups
    • Driving towards the basket
    • Scoring in 1 on 1 situations
    • Finding holes in the defense
    • Turning the corner on pick-n-rolls
    • Executing jump-passes
    • Passing in traffic
    • Passing in awkward angles
    • Ripping ball handlers without fouling
    • Blocking shots without fouling
    • Drawing charges
    • Grabbing offensive rebounds (slightly)

Likewise, you will have an easier time...:

  • • Making wide open jumpers
    • Staying in front of your man
    • Blocking shots
    • Stealing passes
    • Defending pick-n-rolls
    • Drawing fouls near the basket
    • Relying on help defenders
    • Passing out of double teams
    • Grabbing defensive rebounds (slightly)

Suggestions on how to score:

Usually when you play online, most people abuse superstars, lead passes, and abuse the paint in general. With these slider changes, it will be much more difficult to waltz your way through the paint and expect to make a shot over several defenders.

Instead, you are going to need to find other means to score. Move the ball, move the defense, drive n dish, use screens, post up, and maybe even have a few plays ready when you need them (although they are not always affective, perhaps you will find a few that actually work).

Court vision will be very important. I suggest using a camera angle where you can see the whole floor. Move the ball, move the defense, use the shot clock, and you will likely find somebody open.

Contested layups won't work. They are going to have to be legitimately open by the basket, or be using a very high rated player in order for layups over defenders to drop as often, even if you have a good angle. That doesn't mean avoid driving to the basket, however. Driving sucks in the defense, which will get your shooters open. Also, the more shots you take around the basket, the more fouls you'll draw. Remember the foul tendencies are much higher now.

Call for screens and play the pick n roll/pop. Personally, this is my favorite play to run on offense, simply because screens are the best way to create open shots in basketball. For example, I'll dribble it up with my PG to the left wing and call for a screen (B button). I use the screen and drive towards the middle of the paint, then dish to the right wing. I call for another screen with my wing man, drive towards the paint, dish to the left wing and repeat. Eventually, someone is going to be wide open. Either a shooter in the wing or the corner, a big man open from midrange or by the basket, or a wide open lane for the ball handler to drive to the basket for an easy finish.

Post up. Now, I'm not a very good post player myself since I never personally took the time to learn the complex post controls. If you can master it though, it will be another weapon on offense where you can efficiently score baskets.

Don't get discouraged by missed jumpers. Field goals tend to even out during the course of a game. Just keep moving the ball, keep looking for open shots. They'll fall eventually. If all else fails, try getting to the rim and drawing fouls to get to the FT line to gain some momentum.

Remember, field goal percentages are likely to range from somewhere between 40% to 50%, perhaps more or less depending how well you play or how accurately I adjusted the sliders. There shouldn't be any automatic ways to score, at least not any I know of with these settings.

We usin these in the league?

Yep, I said so right in the first sentence.

Anyway, here is what I've come up with for the slider changes that will be made in our NBA 2k10 league.

And again, if there is anything you think should be changed, please let me know.

Also, the league will be in HoF difficulty and the quarters will be at 7 minutes.

Did a 7 minute first quarter with these rules and sliders, and hall of fame difficutly, Cavs vs Magic. I was Cavs, CPU was Magic.

Cavs -

Points : 29

FG % : 83

3 pointers : 2-2

Free throws : 7/9

Points in the paint : 14

Magic

FG % : 28

3 pointers : 1/4

Free throws : 3/6

Points in paint : 2

Didnt change anything for me against the CPU, but vs a human im sure it will be different.

Oh snap. Idk I just downloaded the sliders you put up on 2k share. Was I supposed to do something else besides the rules?

Nevermind then. You did nothing wrong. It just seems odd you shot 80% despite the adjustments.

Play a full game for me and tell me your stats, and how you scored most of your points.

Alright ill do it later.

Btw im not sayin the sliders are bad. Im just sayin it doesnt really affect me I usually get past defenders pretty easily, and the computer is way too predictable so their easy to defend. Like I said vs a human these sliders would probably be pretty good.

Also, after downloading the sliders, make sure you LOAD the sliders before playing (I'm not accusing or anything, I just want to be 100% sure everything was perfectly correct).

Okay, I think that's the problem. I downloaded my own sliders and it doesn't change anything UNTIL you load them.

So, if you haven't read this yet: After downloading the sliders, be sure to LOAD them before gameplay. Go to options -> Load/Save -> Load, and scroll down until you find the saved file

I still find it odd how you shot 80% despite the changes.

I played someone online yesterday with my changes. He attempted to score almost all of his points in the paint, yet he only shot barely above 40%.

On the other hand, I spaced the floor and played with a more all-around approach, doing a little bit of everything. As a result, I shot nearly 50%.

I do need to make further changes, though. Post shots from big men don't go in often enough in comparison to lay ups from guards. Also, it's too easy to steal on the ball despite my rule changes for increased reach in fouls. I may have to raise ball handling a little higher, or lower stealing a tad.

I'll post updates later.
