If LeBron leaves Cleveland...

How bad will he be booed when he comes to play on the road in Cleveland? I could see some cheers, but other than that, I think he might get worse than Vince in Toronto boos.

If he played in Philly he'd get batteries to the face if he left.

Hel get cheered cause all the "Real Cleveland fans" will not go to the games anymore and it will be bandwagon fans from the Knicks or whoever he signs with in the building.

lol

I wonder if Cleveland fans will hate him as much as Laker fans hated Shaq. At least I don't think Lebron's gonna throw the entire city and franchise under the bus, but a big LMFAO in the face of Cleveland fans and the entire city. There goes their economy!

Original.

But in response to this thread, he goes down as the biggest piece of [expletive] in professional sports history, if he puts on this whole charade with ESPN tomorrow night, putting Cavaliers fans through torture, only to say he is leaving. And he has the nerve to play it off as "for charity". Give me a break. Unbelievably low.

Why would watching a city's economy go down the drain make you laugh?

You gotta stop trying so hard man.... lol

I don't think he'll get booed because he revolutionized sports in the state of Ohio and finally gave fans something to cheer for during his 7 year stay. I'm sure some will boo, but most should applaud what he brought to them.

It's not like LeBron won a championship in Cleveland, so leaving them empty handed is only going to get him boos. He left without accomplishing anything of importance. I agree with Guru, he will lose a lot of fans after tonight (considering he signs with any other team not named Cleveland).

Found this post on another board. Agree with everything except the first sentence.

Kobe never carried a team to a championship...he was going to leave the Lakers if they didn't promise to get him some other elite players. Did going to the celtics diminish anything for KG and Ray Allen? you need a couple (at least) all star caliber players to be competitive...lebron turned a team of [expletive] into the best record in the league...he couldn't get over the hump...now he gets 2 elite players (one being one of the best players) and it is very conceivable they just gang rape the entire league

winning cures everything. Whatever negative press or perception Lebron gets in the wake of heading to miami will be immediately erased if the heat go out kick [expletive]...the more they win the quicker he turns it around...lets say the heat go out and win 75 games and he gets MVP....i think all that talk goes away quickly. Maybe some talking heads will mention it but they are paid to bring counter arguments, not what the reality is. All that matters is that lebron gets his rings...gets his to expand his brand (winning increases exposure)...and so forth. If Nike thought this was a bad idea, and they are the ones behind the lebron brand, then they would have nipped this in the bud immediately.

This is something that the 3 of them have discussed since the olympics...so I am sure lebron mentioned it to nike (or at least his agent) and I am sure nike did their due diligence on market research. They don't get where they are by being idiots...they are, for the most part, the marketing geniuses of our time.

also..Kareem basically did what Lebron is doing...his perception never really took a hit because of it.

Yeah, Kareem requested a trade to New York or LA...and he went to the Lakers and teamed up with Gail Goodrich to propel a 30-win team to 40 wins (or something like that). Gail Goodrich was not a top three player in the NBA at that time, and Kareem didn't join two all-stars.

Not even sure why he would compare the two situations.

Haha, yes, very likely that the trio loses just seven games.

Not really. For one, he just asked for help. When you have Odom, Smush, Mihm, Kwame and Walton all starting games with you, it's time you step up to the plate and demand for help. Was Kobe going to leave? Never. Chicago would've had to trade major pieces to bring in Bryant, and he would've been in the same situation. All Kobe wanted was a competent big and a point guard, two legit starters to group with Odom. Instead, LA went big and brought in Gasol and reeled in Fisher. Can't compare, once again. At that time, Gasol wasn't even close to being the player Bosh was, let alone a Dwyane Wade.

If you compare Kobe's situation with LeBron's, it would mean LeBron either goes to New York to pair with Amare, or he convinces the Cavaliers to bring in Stoudemire, Bosh or Boozer.
