The Suns will make a pair of sign-and-trade deals as part of forward Amar'e Stoudemire's departure.

Phoenix will swing deals with New York and Chicago, netting a $16.5 million trade exception from the Knicks and using it as part of Hakim Warrick's acquisition.

Happy Waters, the agent for Stoudemire, told Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic of the sign-and-trades.

The trade exception of $16.5 million is equal to Stoudemire's first-year salary in New York and means that Phoenix would be landing a player like David Lee in return.

WOOOOOO at least we get some sort of return. I'm OK with a 15/10 player instead of nothing.

15/10? You can expect numbers close to Amare with Steve Nash next year if he goes there, this is a huge pickup for them, not to mention he will only get like 10M or so probably, that leaves them another chunk of money to sign someone like Mike Miller.... this could be huge for them.

Well I'm just going on what was expected og him elsewhere. I know everyone's stats get 'inflated' when they play with Nash, so I'm hoping for a 20/8 team.

He averaged 20/12 on 55% shooting with Chris Duhon at PG. He's the 2nd best PnR big in the league next to Amare. He's going to be terrific on the Suns.

No Lee sorry

The Suns will use Amar’e Stoudemire’s official departure today to make a pair of sign-and-trade deals with New York and Chicago, netting the Suns a $16.5 million trade exception from the Knicks and using part of that for Hakim Warrick’s acquisition, according to Stoudemire’s agent, Happy Walters.

Walters said the trade exception the Suns are receiving in return for first signing Stoudemire to his five-year, $99.7 million contract with New York is for $16.5 million, equivalent to Stoudemire’s first-year salary. That means the Suns will not be getting a player, like free agent David Lee in return.

The Suns could use the trade exception over the next year to acquire a player of less than or close to the exception’s value (about $13.5 million after the Warrick deal is done) without having to send any Suns players in a deal.

Call me crazy, but Lee is better than Stoudemire.

Lee is a better passer, shooter, post scorer, and defender than Amar'e.

Yet, Amar'e is flashier and more athletic.

Lee averaged nearly 4 assists last year, has a great jump shot, and had 1.1 steals.
