Cleveland's Finest
Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight; As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us. The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you. There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you. You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal. You have given so much and deserve so much more. In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: "I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE" You can take it to the bank. If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels. Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there. Sorry, but that's simply not how it works. This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become. But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio. The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma. Just watch. Sleep well, Cleveland. Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day.... I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only: DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue.... Gorilla Dog
They should blame management for not getting the right players around LeBron and letting Delonte have sex with his mom without telling him.
Nitro
HAHAHAHAHAHA. Seriously, LeBron landed in your laps because you sucked so bad, he single-handedly brought them back to prominence, gave them major media exposure, a Finals appearance, 60-win seasons, multiple MVP worthy seasons, possibly saved the team from bolting to another city...give me a break. Ya'll knew this day would come and made the wrong moves to build around an all-time talent. He did what was best for he and his family. Classless. Absolutely classless. LeBron is still a young guy and is only one person. That's not to excuse his actions, but by making this statement you are bringing down your own franchise to an even lower lever than he is.
Paul
seriously though, i have been watching the cavs ever since bron came into the league. the whole time he kept asking for a chris bosh type of player yet they land shaq, mo williams, and jamison. what does gilbert expect lebron to do? just sit around and wait for him to bring in another washed up used to be good player? i don't blame lebron one bit and the only people that do are the ones that actually live in ohio and are having to experience the unprofessional stupid ownership they have that couldn't bring a team together to help lebron win a title. he wanted to win a title in ohio and he has said that numerous times. he can't make the trades himself though. The Artesticle
Cavs are idiots. They could've gotten Lebron a sidekick last year. All they had to do was part ways with JJ Hickson and they would've gotten Amare. Instead, they held onto him and got Jamison. Have fun with Jamison and Hickson when Lebron is competing for a title. fish7718
The reality show I now like to call "The NBA" has just taken a wicked plot twist!!! http://i39.tinypic.com/23m7tjd.jpg
JWaLL
Not sure why Cleveland hates the guy who single-handedly turned their sports entertainment around for 7 full years. Can't say Lebron didn't give that city a chance. Sounds like the guy wants to win, burning jerseys and bad mouthing your former star player is just immature and uncalled for. Definitely gives the city a bad name. Cleveland is now the joke of the NBA, sad to say.

Multi-Billionaire
A "we would like to thank LeBron for what's he's done for this organization in the past 7 years we wish him the best" announcement would have been much better. In fact, it would have done the exact reverse. Nothing he says/ does will bring back LeBron, so why make it worse? If LeBron leaving makes the Cavs worth from $400 mil to $300 mil or lower... issuing this statement is not gonna help and even make it worse. Furthermore, it sends red signals to any star player who might be thinking Cavs as destination. It exposes his character, not LeBron's. Saying Cavs are gonna win one before LeBron does is proof of speaking on emotional thinking not rational thinking... in other words, he's not a leader, childish... and you can take this to the bank, no star player is gonna consider Cavs as destination as long as this guy remains the owner. Or at least until he publicly apologizes for this comment and take it back. I wonder how he became rich when he negotiated his deals, etc... this is only done by emotional amateurs. kingfish
I love the letter. But at the same time are players really going to play for Cleveland if this is the type of backlash they get for leaving?
Dash
Per Adrian Wojo of Yahoo, one of Lebron's biggest critics. RT @KDonhoops: Only Dan Gilbert could get me rooting for LeBron James. I can't help but feel the same way.
