Cleveland's Finest
CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert says LeBron James "quit" during the playoffs and should be accountable for his actions. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert gave his reaction to LeBron James leaving in an open letter to fans on the Cavs website. Letter Gilbert, who posted a letter to Cavs fans on the team's website shortly after James announced he plans to sign with Miami, tells The Associated Press late Thursday night that he feels "personally betrayed" by James and that it's "accountability time." In a phone interview with the AP, Gilbert says "people have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5365793&campaign=rss&source=twitter&ex_cid=Twitter_espn_5365793 Edited July 9, 2010 by Cleveland's Finest

Cobb
I probably would've done the same thing. There is only so much you can do.
CaliCurbStomppa
Lol, C'mon, this Gilbert guy is making himself look like a clown. He should be thankful that Bron almost won him a DAMN title. Maybe if he traded some of those scubs Bron would have a true superstar but instead he gave him a guy like Mo Williams, Jamison.. lol
SRV
Gilbert is being an idiot. He is a grown man who runs a team, and he is acting like a girl having her period. He has no one to blame but himself, its his fault for making Lebrons ego as big as it was.
Dash
Pretty funny that just a few days ago he was begging Lebron to come back.

Look what happened to our team and yours.

They could've gotten Amare numerous times I'm sure PHX would've been willing to trade him last season for the right pieces. Gilbert is being an idiot. He is a grown man who runs a teamThat was the first thing that jumped out to me when I read his "letter" to the fans, and now this. I mean, honestly, he is the owner for godsakes! Why is he acting like he's a blogger?
EastCoastNiner
None of us actually know any of the conversations that Cavs management and LeBron had, so maybe James said some things about re-joining and mislead them......
SRV
Yea, you can be a fan, but be professional. Yea, I might sound like I am on my high horse and looking down at the Cavs, but he is an owner. Mark Cuban wouldn't do this, one thing is being angry. but be professional. He is throwing some unnecessary statements in there. He is using the fact that he was born there as the reason for him being a quitter. Lebron owed them nothing, he couldn't win and Gilbert didn't give him the right pieced. Instead of thanking him for 7 years of excitement, he is throwing him in the trash.
Cleveland's Finest
None of us actually know any of the conversations that Cavs management and LeBron had, so maybe James said some things about re-joining and mislead them...... Exactly. The way LBJ acted after the season ended. Gilbert had to put up with so much of this kid's crap and the media portrays LBJ as a cooperative person. Truth comes out and the Cavs will get the last word.
Cobb
Gilbert is probably just drunk and angry.
Multi-Billionaire
"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE" He has so much guts his balls should explode... they're inflated. I will bet any kind of money that "former king" will win one before Cavs do
BadgerFan
Gilbert has EVERY right to be pissed. Lebron didn't even tell them he was leaving until like 20 mins before the show. Seriously, if he made up his mind up in the morning, why couldn't he call the teams and tell them he's going to the heat? Lerbon is a fricken prick, and I hope the Heat don't make the playoffs. Awesome job Gilbert.

Owner Real Deal Posted July 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted July 9, 2010 Lebron didn't even tell them he was leaving until like 20 mins before the show.I read somewhere last week that LeBron actually told Gilbert that he was going to stay, that there really was no way he could leave his hometown, and that he had unfinished business. The Artesticle
So Cleveland fans can now agree that Lebron is a pompous [expletive]. Great. If Lebron announced he'd return to Cleveland, Cavs fans would be riding his dick. hilarious RIP CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 2010

EastCoastNiner
I read somewhere last week that LeBron actually told Gilbert that he was going to stay, that there really was no way he could leave his hometown, and that he had unfinished business. That's what I was saying. I'm sure LeBron said some things that mislead Cavs management. The one thing that stood out was Gilbert saying that LeBron was "disloyal", which leads me to believe that LeBron told him he wanted to stay. AboveLegit
LeBron made the smart decision. I can see why the people of Cleveland hate him. He did go out on national television and said he won't be in Cleveland anymore. It's a tough thing to swallow, not only for a basketball franchise, but for their economy. Many businesses will lose money, the franchise itself will lose money (merchandise will be a tough to thing to sell unless some hardcore fan wants to buy a Mo Williams jersey...), and all those restaurants and bars lined up outside the stadium will lose a lot of business. Like I said before though, LeBron did make the right move. Sometimes you gotta look out for yourself and make the right career choice. I hate LeBron to death, I refuse to root for him unless he's playing for Team USA(even then it's tough to root for him), but he made a smart move. Legacy
He has a right to be mad. How is LeBron going to go on national television and disrespect his home town like that? Big slap in the face. He should have just said he was going to sign with Miami the same day that Chris Bosh said. Wtf, one hour special? Get outta here.
The Regime
Dan Gilbert is super pist. Fathead, which is owned by Dan Gilbert, cut LeBron James pics to $17.41 which is Benedict Arnold's birthyear lol. LeBron is just taking a bashing right now, and deservedly so. His legacy will undoubtedly be tarnished even if he goes on to win multiple championships. Dumb [expletive]. Check my Stats
Cavaliers failed LBJ, he had the right to do this... do he go about it the right way embarrassing them on national television? No of course not, but he DID have the right to leave, he spent probably the 7 best years of his NBA career there and never once played with another all-star, he won 2 MVP's and had many 50+ win seasons... I don't really blame them for hating the guy but I also don't blame LBJ for wanting to leave.... he just kind of did it in a cowardly way which sucks.
