Cobb
Source: Deal is 3-for-1. Happ in. #Astros would pay "very significant" part of Oswalt's remaining salary, which is over 23M. #MLB #Phillies
Dash
e Astros offered to pay $12 million of money remaining on Oswalt's contract through next year, according to a source. In return, the Astros would get back left-handed starter J.A. Happ and two prospects, according to sources. While the Phillies prospects have not been identified, sources said the Astros have pressed hard for first baseman Jonathan Singleton, considered the team's best minor-league hitting prospect. Singleton is currently at Class A Lakewood in the South Atlantic League, where he was hitting .312 with 18 doubles and 12 home runs as of Thursday. It is now up to Oswalt to decide whether to waive his no-trade clause Happ, Singleton and one other prospect would be amazing. $12 million is a ridiculous price though but the prospects may be worth it. Phightins
Singleton isn't in the deal, apparently. It's going to be Happ, Anthony Gose, and Vance Worley. AND the 2012 option isn't even going to be picked up. Edited July 29, 2010 by Phightins
Phightins
Jorge Cantu to the Rangers is all but done.
Phightins
Wow, Houston already flipped Gose to Toronto for Brett Wallace. Makes it look a little bit better from the Astros perspective.
Dash
Sucks that we couldn't get Singleton but Brett Wallace is a very, very nice consolation prize.
Cobb
I'm still mad that the Phillies got Oswalt without giving up Singleton OR Brown. That's some horse[expletive]. Wren better make some moves.
Phightins
Miguel Tejada to San Diego. Not sure what Baltimore is getting.
Phightins
Also, this happened a bit earlier, but Matt Capps traded to Minnesota for Wilson Ramos. The Nationals are going to be disgustingly good in a couple years, [expletive].
Phightins
White Sox are supposedly about to trade for Edwin Jackson. Daniel Hudson and maybe one other pitching prospect going to the Diamondbacks.
Cobb
TBrownYahoo Edwin Jackson has been told he's been traded to the White Sox. Flip to DC next?
bigdog17k
Edwin! No offense but I'm not sure if this team needs any more offense, we've been hitting homeruns like every game. I think we could use his pitching. But I've heard the DC flip thing for Dunn... just not sure if we should.
Phightins
The Rangers traded for Cristian Guzman. For a bankrupt team, they are sure making a lot of moves.

fish7718
Crazy how desperate the Astros appear, they basically just gave away Berkman and Oswalt, 2 franchise players for their organization for years. If I were an Astros fan I'd be very angry.
