Built Ford Tough
FisolaNYDN Reports are that the Knicks are close to a deal with Bobcats PG Raymond Felton. So much for waiting on Chris Paul or Tony Parker Prediction on the terms? I'll say 5 years, $50M. We are going to be seeing a lot of horrible inflated contracts handed out by teams like New York, New Jersey and probably Chicago now that all of the big name free agents have been locked up. Their going to be scrambling to at least salvage some sort of talent out of free agency now and it will result in some good players being drastically overpaid. I'll wait and see the terms before making any comments on the signing itself though. I like Felton going to New York in terms of a fit and his talent level, but I get the feeling I am going to hate the money he will make. JWaLL
Good signing, it's better than risking a trade for Tony Parker that may not happen. And there was no way in hell CP3 was going to end up in New York.
Nitro
If they push that CP3 trade to the max and fail to get it, Felton isn't a bad option B at all. Not the 3pt shooter or speedster that D'Antoni would probably prefer, but he should fit in nicely.
Check my Stats
I really like Felton, that is a lot of money though if it is as much as you think. Knicks off-season is such a failure.

fish7718
lol, why's the Raptors fan so mad? He's like a super Knicks hater, every chance he gets to hate on the Knicks he takes it and calls them failures, even if it's a good move. I think he's really old and Donnie Walsh took his lunch money when he was a kid
Flash
Great signing for you guys. Love Felton and if LBJ hadn't come to Miami then I could definitely see us going hard at him.
Check my Stats
I'm not mad, I just find it funny they spent 2 years gutting their roster and practically selling their soul for a shot at LBJ and co. and they come away with Amare. They might not even be a playoff team the next 2 years and they don't have their picks.... call me a hater because I think their management is one of the worst in the league. You can examine it anyway you want but in 2008 we had I believe a 90 million dollar pay roll and now we are one of the lowest in the league. The Knicks did a great job cutting cap besides what you think. What do you think they should have done? Stayed at 60 million and be a mediocre 8 seed for a couple years? No your wrong the Knicks did an excellent job and we are far better of than we were 2 years ago LeBron or not. The perception that we needed to land LeBron to make the moves worth is completely misconstrued. Out of the moves we made we got Anthony Randolph Amar'e Stoudemire Keleena Azibuike, and now Raymond Felton and even more cap space for the next couple of years. Check my Stats
I think they should have just conceded LBJ wasn't going there and rebuilt properly... the Knicks fans are used to losing and a team led by Amare won't be much more than a 1st round and done.... worse than this they should have saved their cap from this year for next year for guys who are really supposedly interested in joining (TP and Melo). LBJ going there was a cool idea, but did anyone really think it was going to happen? I think Walsch did a pretty bad job clearing salaries, he paid 2 potential lottos and Jordan Hill (another lotto pick) to the Rockets to take a manageable contract. Meanwhile the Bulls were dumping contracts left and right no problem. The Knicks are better off now but I don't think they have done a good job by any means. I'm not a Knick hater, in fact I don't 'hate' any teams, just don't expect me to applaud an effort that was pretty sad in my opinion. ChosenOne
I would agree with Fish it should be around 5 years 35-40 million but looking as they do have a lot of cap left they might just over pay his [expletive] to the 50 million dollar mark. He would be a good signing for them they need to get some good young players after they just signed Amare for 5 years.
Flight
I love Felton, I think he'll strive with Amare. I'll say somewhere between 35 and 45 mil.
Jammin
I don't see how people say the Knicks offseason is a failure. They got a top 5 bigman, and a VERY solid pass-first point guard. They didn't get LeBron, but they have added at least 10-15 wins to their total. Love this signing.
JYD
I really like Felton, that is a lot of money though if it is as much as you think. Knicks off-season is such a failure. Not really. Only one person could get LeBron. If they did not get Amare, and got nothing for Lee and he just walked, then I'd say yes, complete failure. But we got something back for Lee, and got Amare. Felton is a solid signing. We will certainly be better then last year.

JYD
Im hearing 3 Y/21 Million. Thats a decent contract, and I love this team with felton. Def a playoff team.Let's not get a little too quick here. Amare IS better then Lee, but not by an overwhelming stretch. And Felton is still only a 15 and 5 guy at best, he's no CP3 or Deron Williams. The Knicks surely have improved...but they still may barely hover around that 8th seed.
Flight
I think in this system Felton could be a 15 (around there, maybe less or more depending on who else NY signs) and 7 or 8 assists a game. He's had limited options in a limited offense, so I think with D'Antoni he'll have lots of options around him running the floor.

fish7718
^^ that's nice to hear, what a steal he could be if he gets back to his formMANHATTAN — They missed out on LeBron James, but the Knicks are close to signing point guard Raymond Felton. A deal is close to being signed which will bring the former Charlotte Bobcat to Madison Square Garden, according to reports. Felton averaged 12.1 points and 5.6 assists per game for the Bobcats last year. While his signing would be welcomed by the Knicks, they are still angling sign Chris Paul or Tony Parker in next year’s free agent craze. The move is an attempt to buoy fans' optimism after the Knicks failed to sign James. Season tickets were being sold for face value - and below - on Friday after the superstar announced he was going to Miami. Felton’s deal is believed to be worth $25 million over three years, the New York Daily News said, while ESPN.com estimates it to be closer to $7 million a year to start. Meanwhile, the Knicks officially bid farewell to David Lee as he headed to Golden State in the sign-and-trade deal that brought Amar’e Stoudemire to the Knicks. The Knicks also received forwards Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf in the deal. Lee averaged 20.9 points and 11.7 rebound per game last season for the Knicks and was considered a bright spot in a downtrodden ()year for the team. But Knicks president Donnie Walsh told reporters the team was already looking towards the 2011 free agent class that includes Paul, Parker and Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony. "I think we're done as far as jumping into the free-agent market," he told reporters on a conference call. "We will have flexibility next year and we will have flexibility the year after."Nina Mandell Source 7-8 mill a year, bout what I expected steal when you consider duhon got 4 and darko got 5 Edited July 10, 2010 by Fish7718
The Next Knick
He'll fit good into our system, and I really like having a guy like this who will fit so comfortably into D'antoni's stystem. Hopefully the signings keep on coming.
