The Regime
Oh god... The Miami Heat aren't done hunting for talent -- TMZ has learned LeBron James' new team is in hot pursuit of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Derek Fisher. Well-placed NBA sources tell TMZ ... Fisher -- who has 5 championship rings -- has been contacted by several members of the Heat organization including multiple players. We're told Fisher -- who is a free agent -- is slated to be in Miami tomorrow to hear a pitch from Miami Heat President Pat Riley. It's been reported that Fisher already has an offer on the table from the Lakers -- but it ain't exactly a killer deal. We'll see if the Heat have enough cash left to bring the Fish to South Beach. http://www.tmz.com/2010/07/09/derek-fisher-courted-by-miami-heat-lebron-james-los-angeles-lakers/
Check my Stats
Seriously Fisher came to mind when I was thinking of a PG for them, I was just unsure whether they had the money or not.

The Artesticle
They only have vet min and he wants a multi year deal starting at 5 million. Draw your own conclusions.

Lkr
Wow how cruel can you be. Messed up. Anyways thank god his daughter is fine now.Uh what? I didn't say anything bad, way to imply things on your own. All I was saying was he won't go because he can't. He is probably just doing it so the Lakers will pay him
Nitro
Not happening. He won't get a better offer than the Lakers will put on the table, and if he gets low-balled by both he'll take the team where he's been the majority of his career and is a proven commodity. Honestly, it would be a pretty decent move for the Heat if he took the minimum, but for what he wants it's not worth it.
kingfish
Sorry, thought this was in the Lakers forum. But anyways, I wouldnt mind if the Heat signed Fisher. I feel it would a weakness for them and someone for opponents to exploit defensively. Fish didnt have to guard Rondo, but could you imagine if he did? Thats gonna be a problem vs the Celtics. And against the Magic you will have Jameer (who torches Fish), and Dwight running wild. Edited July 10, 2010 by kingfish
Newman
First thing I noticed: TMZ has learned LeBron James' new team is in hot pursuit of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Derek Fisher. Anyway, I don't think the Heat can offer more money than the Lakers can, so Fish is going to stay.
The Regime
Fisher Met At Airport By James Derek Fisher flew to Miami on Friday night on a private plane for a meeting with Pat Riley on Saturday, but was greeted by LeBron James at the airport. James gave Fisher a recruiting pitch as to why he should join the Heat, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Negotiations between the Lakers and Fisher remain positive, according to sources close to the discussions. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68048/20100710/fisher_met_at_airport_by_james/
SRV
Can James teleport and stuff? He is supposed to be in NY for a wedding.
Lkr
Why would Fisher go to Miami? It isn't like he is desperate to win his first title or a title in general. The Heat really can't pay him more money than the Lakers can. I doubt Spoelstra would start him and give him all the love like Jackson does. He has no reason to go there, and he is probably just doing it to toy with Buss for more money

Sportsguy9695
This would be another great move by the Heat if they can get Fisher
SRV
I doubt well get him, if hes is complaining about the Lakers not paying him, why would he come here for the minimum. Stupid bluff, if I were the Lakers, I wouldn't pay him because this isn't even a threat, we have nothing to pay him.
Owner Real Deal Posted July 11, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 There may be another reason, also. Fisher could be using this as leverage to get more out of Buss, OR he could be visiting Riley and the Miami FO to distract them from other free agents, in a way. Definitely nothing to be shocked about...I've suspected this from free agents all the time in the past, where they will visit with rivals and get into serious discussions, then jump to the team they were previously on and watch as their rivals miss out on a player at a similar position on the court. SRV
I doubt Riley is distracted, he probably just wanted to try, but knows not to expect much. There aren't too many FA PG's either way, so might as well try to get one with experience.
Poe
I'd like to have Fisher off the bench... but I doubt he joins for the minimum.
