Legacy
Heat president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison met with free agent point guard Derek Fisher on Saturday and made a "compelling" offer, according to a league source. Miami told Fisher they envision him as their starting point guard.Source
Owner Real Deal Posted July 11, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 Pretty compelling. Option A: LA Lakers, starting role, $2.5 million, place where he won five rings, daughter gets her cancer treatments there Option B: Miami Heat, starting role, vet's minimum, four-man roster, will have to play LA to win a ring
Check my Stats
Still don't think Fisher leaves, this is just a way to get the money from LA he wants.

People always seem to overlook what the players are really doing when they "consider" offers from other teams.
Legacy
So Miami doesn't have the facilities for his daughter? Why would he go there then?
Owner Real Deal Posted July 11, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 So Miami doesn't have the facilities for his daughter? Why would he go there then? Not sure if they do or not (I'm sure they do), but that's not the point. There is no reason to join the Heat. They aren't exactly giving him more of anything else, and when you lay it all out on the table, he's actually receiving less.

Option B: Miami Heat, starting role, gets all their cap space (3.5M?), no state taxes, and gets to play with players that wish they're as good as Kobe. LA already made Fisher a better offer than the original 2.5M contract they offered him earlier this month.

I am not laughing at that, I am laughing that you would randomally say that they are all Kobe wanna-bes when this thread was just showing the difference between the 2 choices for Fisher. SRV
I don't understand Kobe He came out of HS, everyone thought he was an [expletive].Then he won 3 titles with Shaq and people still think he sucked, they thought Shaq did all the workHe was accused of rape and everyone hated himHe requested to be traded, on the radioand now everyone loves him and he is the best player in the NBA I really think this Heat team is gonna take the same path, everyone is gonna hate them, but if they win, they will go down as one of the greatest teams of all time. They aren't exactly giving him more of anything else, and when you lay it all out on the table, he's actually receiving less. I disagree with this. I think if he did end up joining the Heat, he would take it as a challenge just like he did when he first left LA. Different circumstances, and unlike that scenario he'll have essentially the same role, but it would be a huge stroke to Fisher's ego if he could play a major part in a different franchise winning a championship. But I highly, highly doubt he'll leave LA.
Cleveland's Finest
If anyone else goes to Miami, they are just a bum wearing a jersey. Those three thugs are the show in Miami. Anyone else is just a guy working just as hard and getting no recognition. Stay in LA where basketball is still in some classy form.
MiamiThrice
If Fisher is smart he will go to Miami. LA has completely disrespected him by not offering what this guy deserved. He has hit clutch baskets and quality leadership for the team the past few years and helped resurrect a team that wasn't getting out of the first round. Without Fisher LA doesn't win those titles. Miami may not be able to give him his money either, but something they will be giving him is their respect and a chance at being a starter on a dynasty that is just beginning. Do the right thing Derek.

Do the right thing Derek.LMAO...without Fisher, we don't win? Without Fish, we probably win more comfortably. For the 1000th time, his defense is pathetic. He shoots under 40% from the floor. He has been a liability for most of the game, every game. There's a reason we dominated the Celtics with him playing just 10-15 minutes in Game 6. We don't respect Derek? Haha, he still starts...and he doesn't deserve to. He would probably still start over Blake, who is twice the player. Ridiculous.

Without Fisher the Orl-LA series is 2-2 and then its a completely different series. He has bailed the Lakers out with clutch baskets countless times and when he left his presence was definetly missed as LA failed to make it past the first round. Fisher plays smart on defense, he isn't as quick as he once was, but he is one of if not the strongest PG in the league and is quite the pest. A liability eh? I'm sure you weren't saying that after his clutch three against Boston. Why wouldn't he deserve to start? He's been the starter for the past two years and its proven to be successfull. And most importantly Kobe Bryant has 0 rings without Fisher by his side. The smart move would be to give in to his demands and pay the guy that took a paycut just to come back to LA. Otherwise you can watch him make clutch three pointers against the Lakers in the 2011 Finals while asking you whether you are mad or not.. Otherwise you can watch him make clutch three pointers against the Lakers in the 2011 Finals while asking you whether you are mad or not..Without Fisher, we would've won Game 3. Rafer lit him up. And Ariza had to continue leaving Hedo just to run and cover Rafer during the second and fourth games in the series. How about looking at Hedo's numbers for those two games? LA failed to make it out of the first round for two seasons because they played Phoenix both times, having to start Kwame, Smush, and either Walton or Mihm. Are you serious? His clutch three against Boston? If you want to go that route, had it not been for Fisher's disgusting play in Game 5, we would've won that game by double-digits. He was absolutely pathetic on offense and defense...didn't contribute in any way, shape or form. Kobe has zero rings without Fisher? Wade has zero without an old Gary Payton. Hakeem has zero without Mario Elie and Kenny Smith. You're overrating a role player, and I really don't know why.
