He won't be "back" until February where we will essentially pull a T-Mac, keep him away from our team, and trade him at the deadline. The Bucks haven't had a bad off-season, but they haven't made any real steps forward. I mean, Gooden and Maggette are good acquisitions, but good doesn't win you many more games. Gooden has been on 9 teams in 8 years and the only time he's playing well is when he's on a bad team during the final months of a season. If I recall, he was okay for the Spurs and okay for the Cavaliers when he played for them, but both teams could have used any other forward and they would have been at exactly the same place as they were with Gooden. Signing Gooden seemed more a move that made sense because of his good trade value and low price more than it did a signing for a player they expect to be there for more than a season or two. As for Maggette.. well at least they have another scorer, albeit a selfish one. But the Bucks problem has been a lack of a go-to scorer when Redd goes out. No he wouldn't, Redd was a shell of himself last year, and would be worse this year. He was short on most of his jump shots last year, and his athleticism was sapped---and he was never really athletic to begin with. His defense was poor, and he can't create his own shot as well as he used to. Salmons isn't a bad shooter, and is better in nearly every non-shooting category than Redd. Add in that Salmons can create his own looks, can make plays with his passing, and that the Bucks played very well with him on the court, and he'll at least get the chance to start until it looks like he's having a bad season and the Bucks start losing games. At this stage in their careers, Salmons is a better player. I wouldn't be surprised if Redd is traded before the deadline with his expiring contract. Kelenna and Turiaf are expirings, aren't they? We wouldn't get better roster fillers on one year deals, and we'd like the cap for next offseason too... Not to mention Randolph being quite the perfect match for our offense, and he'll likely start at alongside Amar'e at only 21, with worlds (universes, actually) of upside.
