OTRA Games and Rules

The league has now officially started!

This thread is dedicated to two things mostly. Letting everyone know that you are ready to play or what time you are available, and the rules themselves, which are listed below.

--------------------------------------------------------

Before you play your games, please look over these rules. They should be simple enough, I don't want to make anything too complicated.

Rule 1 - There are 15 total games in the season, and you must play 5 games per week starting today. So by this upcoming Saturday, July 24th, you must complete 5 games. By the following Saturday, July 31st, you must have played 10 games. By August 7th, you must have completed all your games, then the playoffs start.

Anyone who fails to complete their games will get their uncompleted games simulated, with the win awarded to the opponent, or whoever has more games completed between the two players. It's a flexible schedule, so you can play any 5 players in any given week. If you can finish all your games early, that's fine as well.

Rule 2 - No attempting charges outside of the three point line. Sorry guys, but full court charges is just not basketball.

If you do so by habit and manage to mistakenly draw a charge (again, only if it's outside of the three point line), please be a good sport about it and give the ball back. That part isn't a rule, but it would still be a nice thing to do.

Rule 3 - No pump fake fouls. There's a move in the game where if the defender jumps after faking a jumpshot, and you press forward on the shot stick while holding the right trigger, the defender will get sucked into the offensive player and a foul will be called. This is basically a glitch in the game as far as I'm concerned.

Now, I'm not going to be very strict on this rule because it really isn't that bad if used very occasionally, but please avoid using this at all. If someone abuses this constantly throughout the game though, you have a right to report them to me.

And that's it. So far there are just three rules. I may add more if I feel any more are necessary.

Also, if you think any other rules should be added, please let me know and I'll consider adding it.

Don't really see the need for Rule 2 and 3... they should really only be enforced if it is clear that the person is using them as exploits as often as they can.

I'm not being completely strict on those two, but I would prefer that people don't try to exploit those parts of the game. Adding the rules will minimize their abuse.

Besides, a lot of leagues have some very strict rules, like on-ball D at all times, and trades having to match very closely in their ratings, and things like that. I think my rules are very light as they are, and I do prefer to keep it that way.

im not in the leauge (for some reason i didnt get an invite lol) but wha about on ball d?

I had sent you an invite before, and I also sent you a message about joining. I also made a clear warning that not joining by Friday meant that you'll be replaced.

You didn't join, nor did you message me back. I'm sorry to say, but you'll have to wait for the next league to start, which probably won't be until next month, or later (unless these games go by more quickly than I expect).

Also, no on ball D rules.

Also, if anyone is wanting to play me, I doubt that I will be online for the rest of today. Maybe I can get a couple games in tomorrow, though I'd like to try to make a couple trades first.

If you bite on a pump fake, you deserve to be called for a foul, no excuses. That's how Jeff Van Gundy would play 2K10, and that's how you all should play!

Videos games =/= real life. Jumping is the only way to contest a shot in the video game. You can't stay grounded or they'll make the shot. So you got to pick your poison when playing someone that abuses it.

In a perfect world, the game designers would have thought of a way to contest without jumping at the offensive player. Maybe in 2k11 I'll be able to remove the rule.

You have to be in the league lobby (like where you can look at your team and set up your lineups and everything). Here is the step by step:

1. Bring up the main menu.

2. Game Modes > Online Leagues > My Leagues > OTR Association

3. Once in there, hit the RIGHT TRIGGER, and you should see your team with teams alone the bottom.

4. Look for a team that is online (can use the RIGHT BUMPER to see more teams), if they say online, click A, then challenge opponent.

EDIT - Connecting problems I'm not sure about. The 2k servers are [expletive], so it might be them. Or if you are using a router, try direct connecting to your modem, that might help. Beside that, I don't know. :(

But say if we were both on at the same time and wanted to play, but it our game wasn't on the schedule next, we would have to wait until we both got our games in with the other person first before we could even play. This way you can play anytime someone is online, which makes it a lot easier/quicker.

No no no, you can only play a team 1 or 2 times (depending on how many times you have them on your schedule). There is a schedule, but you don't have to play anyone in any certain order or at any certain time.
