Owner Real Deal Posted July 19, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted July 19, 2010 Loving all of the home runs being drilled in this topic. I'm proud for those showing respect to those who died in one of America's biggest tragedies. Lmao @ the sensitiivity in here. No surprise it comes from mostly Laker fans who are going to take every chance they can get to down talk the Heat. Heat fans, everyone is going to be very jealous of our dynasty. These kind of comments will be a common occurrence for the next 6 years.Get off the Lakers fans' asses. Take a look back and count the many non-Lakers fans who are against it. There are more of those than there are Lakers fans. Looking back at your posts, I can predict you probably won't be here very much longer. Lone Wolf
I get the point and I am not offended, but it's just not very smart to compare 9/11 in any context, especially sports. Wade misspoke. It's why he apologized for it. Case closed.This.

YugoRocketsFan
What the hell are you talking about? It's not "pussification" it's called showing some respect, not being a dick, not casually comparing the deaths of innocent people to a basketball team. So racism is totally cool with you? Everyone is racist in their own ways.

First of all, who the hell is this guy? And second of all, why does everyone want to attack Laker fans when the majority of the posts have NOT been from Laker fans. People are always quick to jump on Laker fans.

Nitro
I disagree. In my opinion, you're a better role model for saying what's on your mind no matter what people think of it, and no matter how much you get fined for it. It shouldn't be a crime to say what's on your mind. Yes, in YOUR opinion you're a better role model if you say what's on your mind. But that's not the way the world works, and I think most people's reactions to Wade's comments (including his own apology) will back that up. It's kind of like in Chapelle's Show where "keeping it real" goes wrong. The moral is there is a place and time to say these kinds of things, and to say what he did in front of a bunch of cameras garners he and the Heat unnecessary negative attention. And it isn't a crime to say what's on your mind, but the consequence comes from the perception of the public against he and the Heat. Public perception is a big thing for these athletes and teams. SRV
He apologized either way, but I doubt people care. I understand it was a stupid thing to say, but you understand what he meant. We all know the frenzy that will occur after a loss, so you see that comparison. Again, people already formed their own opinions on this, and what I have to say is useless and completely retarded like all my fellow Miami residents, but people blow this way out of proportion. NomarFachix
Poe, are you joking bro? I didn't think you were so completely ignorant... I guess I was wrong. Wow. It's funny how a fanbase goes from tolerable to league worst overnight... Keep defending Wade, boys! Laughable.

Doc
It's easy to say, its not a big deal because the WTC didn't affect you family wise and such. (Not saying you do, cause I dont know anyone). But with a comment like that its tough on a nation and the families that was effective. Saying this is alll because people are looking for a reason to hate the heat or Wade, its not. If anyone said this, from Mike Miller, Kobe, or Adam Morrison, the reaction should be the same. Saying something like losing two games or relating anything to basketball with the WTC shouldn't happened. its like relating anything to the Nazis, Slaves, etc. Not need. Sure its gonna be a bad thing for now, but will go away later. Just the point of him saying it, needs to be pointed out.
Owner Real Deal Posted July 20, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted July 20, 2010 Kobe committed rape It must be the "thing" to become the most hated team, players AND fanbase in the NBA these days...and the funny thing is, it has absolutely nothing to do with winning championships, since those guys have yet to even play a single NBA game. Like players, like fans.
Jammin
I know everyone here know's he apologized, not sure if anyone posted it tho... "There's going to be times when we might lose one, two games in a row, maybe two games, three games in a row, you never know. It's going to seem like the world is crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade has just went down again. But it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games lost and we'll have to get back on track." On Monday, before leaving on a flight to Los Angeles for some television appearances -- he was previously booked to talk with Jay Leno -- Wade issued an apology through the Heat. In the statement, Wade said: "In an interview yesterday, I attempted to explain how some people may view the Miami Heat losing a few basketball games in a row during the upcoming season. It appears that my reference to the World Trade Center has been either inaccurately reported or taken completely out of context. I was simply trying to say that losing a few basketball games should not be compared to a real catastrophe. "While it was certainly not my intention, I sincerely apologize to anyone who found my reference to the World Trade Center to be insensitive or offensive." AOL Fanhouse initially reported the guard saying: "If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade is coming down again." Hours later, AOL Fanhouse published a different version of the quote, citing a transcription error and an editor's note saying, "we deeply regret the error." The media changed up the words to make it seem like he said something bad. I bolded what he ACTUALLY said. Poe
And it isn't a crime to say what's on your mind, but the consequence comes from the perception of the public against he and the Heat. Public perception is a big thing for these athletes and teams. That's a different argument. If you value your image more than your opinion, then it's a bad idea to make such a comparison. My argument is how comparing two things, no matter what two things your comparing, shouldn't be judged morally. It's only a comparison. Taking it a step further, if you have an opinion, you should be allowed to say it no matter the situation. The only people that get hurt by words is those that let themselves get hurt by words. I can't hurt your feelings. Only you can. It's all about perception. Poe, are you joking bro? I didn't think you were so completely ignorant... I guess I was wrong. Wow. How am I ignorant? Judging by your comment, you hardly even read my posts... or you just didn't understand them. I never said I didn't care about 9/11, and I'm not defending Wade because of my fanbase (like I said before, I defended LeBron in a similar topic even though I'm not a Cavs fan, and didn't like LeBron much at the time). I know it may be hard to understand, but I am truly expressing my own opinion, and what other people think about it will not affect it, unless they are able to give me a good enough argument to make me change my mind, which nobody has even attempted except for Nitro. And on that note, judging by the comment in bold, I don't think I'm the ignorant one here. Edited July 20, 2010 by Poe

Poe
Way to discredit people. hmmm.... You think it's comparable? Oh boy.. Of course he didn't kill any one for making that "simple" comparison. The comparison itself went too far. Some people these days... Amazing argument, I must say. TOTALLY convinced me. On the other hand, Nitro actually made some valid points. I didn't agree with him, but at least he actually brought something to the table, unlike other people that only emphasized how tragic 9/11 was.
