JYD
Look, IMO, Drake is a good rapper. I think he has a lot of catchy rhymes and songs, but by no means is he a great lyricist or some type of GOD MC. He's not Hova. He's not Nas. Guru
Common. One example, amazing off the top freestyler.Okay? So all we should listen to is Common?I'm not saying that there are not rappers out there that do freestyle, but I am saying that freestyling is not required to be considered a good rapper. NomarFachix
Drake's apex is bad Wayne. Wayne put out fire way back when. Doesn't deserve a thread.
JYD
Didn't say that, just listing a mainstream rapper that has above par freestyling skills.Which reminds me of Jay-Z's song "Moment of Clarity" "I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollarsThey criticized me for it, yet they all yell "holla"If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably beLyrically Talib KweliTruthfully I wanna rhyme like Common SenseBut I did 5 mill' - I ain't been rhyming like Common since" Basically, what he's saying is rappers like Talib Kweli and Common who are great lyricists and Common, like you said, a great freestyler, that doesn't make any money in the rap game. Nobody listens to them. So, Jay learned to dumb down his lyrics, made money, and gave back.
