Taking the ACT in September

ACT is easier than the SAT, its more straight forward. That being said, I suck at Math and I was able to guess my way to a 22 in math, so that saids it all. I ended up getting a 23 on the ACT, which isn't great, but good enough for the school I wanted to go to.

Did you take the ACT with the Writing?

I took it twice, first time with no writing, second time with writing. I don't really know what difference the writing makes in your score, some schools just require it.

I took the ACT's in June and got a 27. It was a horrible experience. Started out great with English, then the beginning of Math was pretty good, but after that it all went downhill... Science was quite a bit of guessing.

On top of it all, I was extremely hungry starting on Test 2 and pissed my body weight at the break.

How was it compared to the SAT. Easier? Harder?

English is extremely easy if you speak it all the time, the stories are boring though. Math was hard for me, and science is just reading charts and comparing them to the question, I don't remember what else was in the ACT.

Well, from your first post, I can tell you probably didn't do too WELL (not good) on the writing potion of the test.

However, the SAT is more important to most schools in the north, and ACT's are valued more in the south.

I'm not too worried about my writing since colleges don't usually look at it. I actually did better on the Writing portion than I did on Reading and Math.

What was your SAT score? IMO the ACT is a little easier, but not by much. Make sure you know your math.

1st Time - 910 (Math + Reading)

2nd Time - 920 (Math + Reading)

TERRIBLE, I know. :(

Just check up on the college you want to go to and see the admission scores. I wasn't gonna study my [expletive] off for a 27 if all I need is a 23.

How did you go about studying? Did you buy one of those Princeton Review books or whatever?

I went in cold for the ACT, but there are study books for it. I'd recommend taking a look at one since you will be submitting the ACT over the SAT.

I didn't study for my SAT or ACT. There is nothing to study for, you just need to know how to cancel out some choices and if it comes to it, take a good guess. There is nothing on the tests that you haven't seen before. Plus in my highschool we took a few SAT practice tests and we had some class lessons on how to go about picking your answer if you aren't sure, so thats how I studied.

Plus, if you study you feel too much pressure. You know you wasted money on books and classes all on this one test, if you don't study you go in with no pressure, and you just do what you know. If you do bad, you can always take it again, and you know what to expect. You'll end up taking it more than once unless you do great on your first try.

Just relax when you take it, IMO aside from Math, the other sections all depends on how focused you are. Take a piss at every break, cause nothing sucks more than rushing through a test just so you can go to the bathroom.

I found the ACT to be a lot more easier. (I scored better on the ACT)

If you have problems on getting good scores, try to find an SAT prep class. They help a lot. My High school offered one for free and it helped me a lot. I scored a lot higher and I was more prepared. Good luck.

ACT is much easier, at least for me. I took it three times. First two times I got the same score, then the third time I got a +3 improvement. You have to grind through it and stay focused the whole time. It's hard for me to get everything done in the set time so that's pretty much the only thing I had to overcome. I took the writing all three times as well and did pretty good on that.

I took SAT classes to prepare for the SAT and took my first and only SAT before any of the ACTs I took. I did terrible on the SAT in comparison to the ACT. Too many sections for me.

As said, you can't study for the ACT. Might want to review Trigonometry, if anything. The science part is the worst. I ran out of time on it from over analyzing the graphs, and just went through there guessing. Before you take it, get a good night of sleep. Don't worry about it, and you will do fine.
