Basketball Forum?

Theres a lot of subforums for basketball so there is a reason it looks like that.

41,234 total posts in the team forums, plus 8,034 in the Lakers forum. There's still more posts in the off-topic, other sports, and other non-basketball discussion than the posts in the Basketball Discussion AND all of the team forums combined.

Sure but NBA general isnt a broad topic, while other sports/offtopic is. The other sports subforum also got a lot of threads because of the World Cup, basketball talk will go up with FIBA.

Basketball is a broad enough topic for realgm to thrive, and they don't even have an offtopic forum.

BTW, I'm just pointing it out. I'm not complaining about anything.

RealGM do have an off-topic forum. Doesn't seem very active other than the OT: Australia thread in there which I go into a lot.

What's the point of this thread lol

That this site generates more activity in offtopic discussions than from basketball itself. Considering how most guests appear in the basketball topics, it's no wonder that so few actually join. People here are more interested in discussing other topics than what this site was made for.

We're lacking a strong core of posters with good basketball knowledge. There are some, but not enough. It shows from where most of the discussion is taking place.

Think of posters like Blasco and BFT. How often are they in the off-topic forums?

Also, the poster above me shows an excellent example of another thing that's holding this community back. There are those who wish to contribute positively to discussions, and there are those who instigate and attempt to drive a reaction from the members here.

Well, a lot of people when you go on their profile it says they have the most posts in off-topic and I have the most in General NBA Talk. People need to make more topics in General NBA Talk. It is the off-season for basketball though.

That's because the off topic forum contains all general talk PLUS subforums. If you combined all of the NBA team forums into the General NBA Discussion forum, I guarantee that would change. Hell, in my profile it says most of my posts are in the off topic forum but I spend more time discussing basketball.

I post a lot in off-topic, but thats because there isn't much to talk about in the off season. Sure, the Heat forum is lit up like a Christmas tree since we got the trio, but thats dying down now, people seem to just accept it now.

I know I am not the smartest person basketball wise, so getting in a debate is a waste of time for me because the good posters take the time to look up stats, and history of the team, where as I base my argument off my opinion. So I just stick to gameday threads and free agent, trade talks.
