leaving OTR

Someone I've known for about four years registered not too long ago, went on vacation and came back yesterday. He sent me a Facebook message telling me he's not going to post here because of the way the new members are treated.

So thanks for [expletive]ing losing a guy that has about 20,000 posts on another site I used to visit, and knows more basketball than 80% of our members here. Not the first time it has happened.

Honestly, if he's not going to post because of that, he shouldn't join any forum for that matter. Every new member gets treated differently, just depends on how they post. Is it fair? Probably not and I get what you're trying to tell us..but if he is how you're telling us, he would have been perfectly fine. We need more basketball-knowledgeable members here.

Hopefully he reads this and proves me wrong or something.

That's not for him to try and figure out, though. We don't have some sign saying, "Hey, if you don't know your teams and players, don't post here." We are supposed to welcome everyone that wants to contribute and follow our guidelines. We welcome guys that don't even like basketball.

If he's not going to join OTR because of the way new members are treated, he's got a good reason not to. Pretending I wasn't the owner of this site, I wouldn't want to post here, either...not when half of the community thinks that they are the ones setting the bar.

But not on my watch.

Yeah, a few members do get on the new member's backs for how they post, if they arent making 2-3 word posts all the then I would see if there was something to complain about but there isnt, Sacha makes larger posts than most of the members here.

thanks man. that's why I don't understand why you guys are jumping on me

What's wrong with Sacha? Why hate on him. He can be a bit of a post -padder I admit. But tell me who isn't a post-padder at times. In less than a year on one of the forums I'm on Sacha has 16,00+ posts and I only have like 4,500 and I joined like a month before he's always a good active member, of course everyone posts-pads though.
