NomarFachix
The annual injury rapejob has picked up steam. #1 WR, #2 WR out extended time, #4 WR, #5 WR on IR. #1 LT and #1 C out extended time, #2 C on IR. Starting wideout candidates... Manningham and... Derek Hagan who was watching on TV through last week? Rookie ST specialist Duke Calhoun? I expect them to sign Kevin Curtis this week, they had him in last week for a tryout after his testicular cancer surgery in September. Probably give Beckum some extended looks at split end too, why not? I don't know man, that's nearly our entire offense (4 of top 5 WRs [passing game] and 2/5 starting lineman and one backup [running game]). Going to be a miracle if we can overcome. If we ONLY had Steve Smith out and Nicks, I'd say this is doable because we can still run the ball efficiently to set up the pass...but now teams are going to certainly stack 8 in the box and against our weak o-line, it's going to be a nightmare..... NomarFachix
Giants signed Michael Clayton today. Former 1st round pick, absolute bust in the NFL. Had a decent UFL season this year, hopefully he's got a fire lit under his butt this time around.
NomarFachix
WR Devin Thomas signed.
NomarFachix
Reports that Shawn Andrews was admitted to the hospital unable to walk on his own. Was his jolly old self on twitter earlier, so it's something sudden. Hearing a bad reaction to the epidural he got before the Eagles, my fingers are crossed for good news. NomarFachix
Andrews was in the hospital overnight and was released today, he's definitely not playing against the Jags. Looks like Beatty will start at left tackle with Kevin Boothe at left guard. Look for a lot of runs right, smh -_-
JYD
A lot of runs to the right and a lot of passes to Manningham/Boss. In a must win...not feeling to confident.
NomarFachix
http://i45.tinypic.com/dr2r7p.jpg Come back already, you sexy monster! Hopefully we can fend off the Redskins on Sunday. Giants were out 5 receivers last week, and were missing five linemen (I think) who were either starters or would have been starters via the other injuries. Crazy that we were still able to move the ball. Diehl, O'Hara, and Smith all did work in practice this week. If we get Smith and Diehl back for Minnesota and Nicks and O'Hara back for Philly... well, yay. Hearing Andrews' injury isn't just muscle and that Coughlin sounded pessimistic about him. Shucks. Got Washington twice and Minnesota left. Must wins, with the Eagles and Packers our other two games. I think we need four wins to get in of the five remaining. Let's go fellas! JYD
Winning the division would certainly be nice. But at this point I think it's a long shot. Can't lose to Washington or Minnesota... Looking good so far 21-0 at the half.
NomarFachix
Welcome back, Steve Smith! Just kidding, he may have torn miniscus in his knee in the Minny game and would be out for the season. Love injuries.

Guru
Good season overall. So many ups and downs throughout the season. The G-Men definitely kept it interesting for all 16 weeks. Injuries hurt us for sure but that is no excuse. Let's just improve for next year.
JYD
Coughlin should've been fired. How many times do we need to go .500 or worse over the last 8 games of the season? I was a fan of keeping him last year, but it's gotten unacceptable. The Giants need to make some improvements in certain spots. PR, KR, Punter, and LB are the main places they need upgrades. Otherwise, I think they are a championship contender... We had some injuries, but every team does. We did get hurt at some big spots (Steve Smith) and constantly shuffling along the o-line. I think the Giants will be a ton better next season, regardless of their coach...would've liked to see a fresh face in there like a John Fox or Gruden or even Cowher but I do think the Giants can win with Coughlin. NomarFachix
Carolina and Cleveland have submitted HC interview requests for Perry Fewell. If he leaves, why not bring John Fox back in to DC with a promise of Coughlin's job when he's done? Seems like a place Fox would like to be. As far as upgrade necessities, JYD, I agree. I think KR and PR is fixed via health, as Hixon has been a tremendous returner for us. If he makes a full recovery from his ACL injury, that's a simple fix. I'd like to see us take an OLB at #19. Goff and Boley are fine, but I highly doubt Bulluck will be back. He's already said that he won't settle for a limited role next year, and would rather retire and buy a boat. lol. Hopefully a nice SLB shows up at #19, or Sintim shows some ability to play football soon. I wouldn't mind drafting a nice big RT to replace McKenzie in the near future, as we keep developing Beatty for LT. Koets seemed capable at C when O'Hara was out, so I don't think we address that position, and Seubert (if recovered) and Diehl at the guards with Andrews as a swing backup is solid. We could probably use another corner on the roster, and see about bringing Deon Grant back for another season. Phillips should be even more improved two years removed from his injury. Health is #1. I look at the guys coming back from injury next year... Smith, Nicks, Barden, Hixon, Cruz, Hedgecock, Bruce and Michael Johnson, KIWI, Koets and Sintim... Hell, even Adrian Tracy looked solid in preseason at OLB before going down with an injury. I feel very optimistic, and camp should be hella competitive this summer. I'm already [expletive]ing excited. Stay away from drafting punters, and put Dodge on the practice squad (if he's eligible? not sure how that works for vets). Find the best guy hitting the FA market and do what it takes to sign him; it's obvious that special teams were killer for this team this year, in the bad way. I like us looking into re-signing a lot of the 1-year players... Hagan, Clayton, Devin Thomas all contributed in one way or another. Time for me to look into who are our impending free agents and report back... But I do so in higher spirits than yesterday.

Time for me to look into who are our impending free agents and report back... But I do so in higher spirits than yesterday.I think there are a few guys at LB that should be hitting the F.A. wire. We need to get a MLB and an OLB. Goff is not a good MLB, and like you said, Bullock won't be back most likely. I think getting a guy like Tulloch the TEN LB, who I believe will be a F.A. would be a great addition. They need to get more athletic at LB, they are just too slow sideline to sideline, which is why drafting an OLB and getting a Tulloch for MLB would be a huge improvement. As far as special teams, can you really go into next year with Matt Dodge as your punter? I honestly don't think so. He was just THAT bad this year...You have to sign a veteran like you said illwill. KR and PR the Giants were not even a threat. I mean, we didn't have a PR, KR, INT return, or FUMBLE return for a TD this year. We didn't score any other way besides our offense. That MUST change. We need to become a unit that can threaten teams with their special teams. The Giants haven't had that since Hixon, but even when he gets healthy I think it's more then just him. I think the unit has to get better in general. Getting the offensive line younger is another priority. But...I do like a few of the pieces like you said in Beatty and Koets, so I don't think that's a major issue. Lastly, I don't think Fox wants to be a DC. I'd assume he'd want another HC job...which he's definitely capable of... Overall, I'm optimistic like you said illwill, and we'll see what happens. This team is very talented, but has some major holes that need to be filled in order to be a contender next year.
NomarFachix
Lastly, I don't think Fox wants to be a DC. I'd assume he'd want another HC job...which he's definitely capable of... Yeah, I agree with this 100%... but I think if you present him with the option of head coaching Cleveland or Cincinnati immediately or defensive coordinating for two years in NY at a HC salary and then taking over for Coughlin... It's something he'd at least have to consider. All of this, of course, is only if Fewell leaves. I liked Perry's defense this year.
NomarFachix
Also I think Cofield and Robbins are free agents this year, so maybe the draft takes a look at adding another DT... We'd go into the offseason with Canty and Linval.

Not Robbins... my bad... the fat waste from the Seahawks... Rocky Bernard. I actually call him Robbins at a high frequency, I need to get over that.
