Wednesday night via Twitter the newest Boston Celtic, Shaquille O'Neal, challenged radio talk show host Jim Rome to a fight.

Clearly annoyed when Rome said on his TV show "Rome is Burning" that Danny Ainge would be making a mistake by signing the former Laker for the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million (the deal hadn't been signed yet when Rome taped his show), O'Neal tweeted that if he lost a boxing match with Rome that he would donate his entire salary to charity.

What hit The_Real_Shaq the hardest? Probably not the part where Rome declared that the 15-time all-star and owner of four NBA championship rings hadn't lived up to the expectations people had of his career. But it's hard not to think it didn't sting when the ESPN host claimed that Shaq wasn't as professional and as committed to his body as a former Laker teammate. "You never approached the game with the dedication and discipline of Kobe Bryant," Rome said.

"Jim Rome, I am happy with my career and the legacy that I have left behind, obviously u r not happy wit yur legacy I 4got u have no legacy," Shaq retorted.

Jim Rome is a clown. Shaq, at one point, was the best and most dominant player in the game, hands down. Big men get old quick, the dude is HUGE, that's just what happens, it's a fact of life...

He's also basically a journeyman... not saying he wasn't ever dominant, but he's been with a lot of teams. I think that kinda hurts his rep a bit.

not saying he wasn't ever dominant

And I'm sorry? Has Shaq been on 1-2 teams his entire career? No...

You obviously failed to realize what Rome is saying.

That doesn't make Shaq a journeyman. That means Shaq has bounced around at the tail end of his career. And he's had falling outs with players and coaches on other teams (Didn't get along with Van Gundy obviously, and never got along well with Kobe)

KG is an example of what I'm talking about... he's played for two different teams, and been dominant. Despite having 3 less championships than Shaq. It would prove the theory of showing more dedication. He stayed in Minnesota a long time.

KG is also has been in the league a few less years. And Shaq is so big that he has really fallen off the last few years. He's still arguably the greatest C to ever play the game.

Journeyman is a guy who bounces from team to team because he is incapable of staying with one team because of his play. Shaq has bounced around for many reasons.

I agree, but I think back to the original heat between Rome and him stems from these facts, and that Rome was just referring to them by saying he wasn't 'as dedicated as Kobe'. I think some of this actions/attitude have led him to be bounced around, I was never saying it was necessarily a bad thing. Just that I think it hurts his reputation a bit, which is why I thought Rome had a point.

Ok, I can agree with that. I just think that journeyman was a poor choice of words.
