The Regime
Hawks coach Larry Drew has told Al Horford that he wants him to spend more time at power forward this coming season. "[Coach] Larry Drew told me he wants me to play as a 'power forward' next season rather than at center," Horford said. "I can agree on a lot as a player because that's what I've been all my life," he continued. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68588/20100808/horford_moving_from_center_to_power_forward/
bigdog17k
I think this is for the better. Bit undersized at center.
Cobb
This doesn't make sense to me considering Horford is the best center on the roster by a mile.
Sun Tzu
I'd understand if they signed someone like Shaq but seeing as they didn't I don't see anyone else being able to play the 5.
bigdog17k
Well yeah... it obviously makes sense for Horford considering he'll be better matched up at PF. But they should have signed a true center then in the offseason, so it's good but odd at the same time. Maybe they'll trade or something. Nitro
I don't understand it either. I understand that Horford is certainly better suited for PF, but so is Josh Smith. I assume that Pachulia will be moved to starting Center but it just doesn't seem like the best move. Edited August 9, 2010 by Nitro
moeroadkill
guess smith is a SF now. or trade to okc for green :glasses:
Newman
If this is true, they should have pulled the trigger on the Marvin Williams - Shaq trade.
Cobb
guess smith is a SF now. or trade to okc for green :glasses:Unfortunately, yes. There is no way he can play it for extended minutes because he has no range outside ten feet from the basket so I'm not really sure what Drew is thinking by doing this. Hawks Fly High
This probably means that Smith has really increased his jump shot and hopefully we can bring in a half decent center. We really should have traded Marvin Williams
Cobb
We should've gotten Shaq!
Hawks Fly High
I know man. He wont even be any good in the Celtics rotation. In atlanta he could have done something more drastic
