I got it because A) It's latin for "enlightened," B) I like it's design and how it's an ambigram, which represents balance and everything that has an action has an equal and opposite reaction, and C) I always liked the idea that religion has too much of a negative stranglehold on our society and that it prevents the progression of society as a whole. I am FULLY aware that C is a belief of a fictional society, but a lot of tattoos are about what YOU percieve the sign to mean. Afterall, that belief has just as much backing as if the Illuminati is an originzation to hold the black man down or what cause 9/11. I said [expletive] all the haters because SOOOO many people take it as the reason any possible conspiracy has occured. I think that's simply naive and uninformed. But I love the tattoo and don't regret it one bit. Not every tattoo has to have some crazy deep meaning. A tattoo, beyond design, is all about perception.
