Guest STL10
Donnie Walsh makes little sense to me... Offer Gallinari, Curry, and picks for Carmelo? Carmelo+Stoudemire= NO championship Why not keep Gallinari and in 2011 sign Carmelo? The Knicks could potentially trade Curry for Caron Butler if they play their cards right, but Walsh isn't patient. Knicks=STILL poorly run.
Newman
NY isn't the only destination Melo is willing to go to. Orlando can provide Nuggets solid players and since the Nuggets are the one who are making the decisions regarding Melo's future until July 2011, all Knicks can do right now is to try and offer Nuggets trade proposals. Maybe it's because I am not high on Gallo, but I don't think losing him would hurt the Knicks much, considering he will be stuck behind Melo or play at an unfamiliar position anyway. magicbalala245
Plus Carmelo + Amar'e almost guarantee that CP3 will also land in New York if not Tony Parker wife's Eva Longoria has already stated Tony would like to play in New York. JYD
Because, what if they lose out on him in the 2011 FA? Or he gets traded to a different team between now and then. If the Knicks can acquire him now, that means it's more likely for them to land Paul when he becomes a FA. Plus, anything to get the Knicks back into the playoffs - honestly, it's not about winning a championship at this point for NYK. It's about returning to winning, putting a competitive team on the floor. The last time the Knicks were above .500 was the 2000-2001 season. The last time the Knicks were in the playoffs was the 03-04 campaign. You have to put that in perspective. If they can get two legitimate superstars like Amare, and Carmelo, they will at least make the playoffs as like a 5th or 6th seed, and maybe can win a round. That's all Knick fans are looking for at this point. Lets get back to winning, lets get back to at least seeing playoff basketball in NY. Flash
I would do that in a second. It's freaking Danilo Gallinari. If you're hesitant about them trading Danilo for Melo then idk what's wrong. I still think CP3 goes to Orlando somehow.
*Swish*
Because if they have Melo and Amare.. they have a chance to compete against the Heat and Lakers
Sportsguy9695
I think getting Carmelo for the knicks wont bring us a championship alone. But it would be a big help
CLEkid
With Carmelo, the Knicks would once again be a competitive team. Though they wouldn't be able to get past the Celtics and Heat, and probably the Magic, they actually look like a desirable destination for future free agents. Plus, as mentioned before, they could land CP3, but IMO that trio alone won't be able to defeat the three kings of Miami.

You get the player if you can get the player, [expletive] the offseason. Gallo + Curry + Picks = buying tremendously low on Carmelo Anthony. STL = Wrong. lulz. Owner Real Deal Posted August 19, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 Whether they do it now, in February, or a sign-and-trade in July...doesn't matter as long as they get him. Thing is, the earlier the better. No reason to give teams a chance to evaluate their rosters and set up some big-time offers in February, and no point in waiting until he's a free agent, because he could lead them on just as James did a couple of teams. Nitro
As others have said, there's no guarantee Melo will choose NY in the 2011 free agency. Not only that, but there's talk that Melo would sign an extension now if he got word he'll be traded to NY, NJ or Houston. The Knicks should be putting on a full court press to get Melo if Denver is indeed fielding offers.
Poe
Yea, Melo is only the third best small forward in the league. Why the hell would you give up the amazing Eddy Curry to trade for him? TERRIBLE decision. Edited August 19, 2010 by Poe

Id say if the nuggets would want tht trade than do it melo is better than any of the players tht the knicks want to trade than go for it without thinking twice about it. Poe
corrected you can thank me whenever So you think Melo is better than the regular season scoring champ Kevin Durant? But anyway, that's besides the point. When you have a chance to gain a player of Carmelo's ability without having to give up much more than an expiring, a pick, and a specialist, you go for it without question. NomarFachix
Absolutely I would... I'd trade him and a ton more for Melo. I just disagree with the label 'specialist'.
Poe
Absolutely I would... I'd trade him and a ton more for Melo. I just disagree with the label 'specialist'. I was just putting Gallo's game in simpler terms. Primarily, he's a three point specialist. I know that isn't his only trick.

fish7718
Obviously an attempt at a troll I believe. When you have a chance to aquire a top 10 player in the league you don't pass on it especially when you haven't made the playoffs since 2004.
