The Regime
Lakers forward Ron Artest won't be wearing No. 37 with the team next season. Artest has decided to change to No. 15, the number he wore at St. John's and when he first came into the NBA. He requested the change before the end of the 2009-10 season. Artest, who has also played for the Bulls, Pacers, Kings, Rockets, has worn Nos. 23, 91, 93 and 96 in his career. http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68784/20100820/artest_changing_to_no_15/

Dzy
I think he wore 37 to honor Michael Jackson. Maybe he just likes having different numbers
Built Ford Tough
Was 15 not available when he joined? He wore number 37 last year in honour of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album as it spent 37 weeks on top of the pop charts. EDIT: Didn't see DaSin's post. magicbalala245
I thought you had to have a number for so many years before changing it? This is all I could find considering the rules on changing numbers In order for a player to change jersey numbers at will, he either has to change teams or have the team inform the league of the decision more than six months in advance. Players who stay with the same team must have worn the same number for four seasons or longer.
