The Artesticle
I don't agree with Amare being so high. I think if you look at them individually Dirk should be ranked higher than Pau Gasol. Maybe Tim Duncan as well but I'm not sure how much his game has declined over the years. I'd rank Pau third behind Dirk and possibly Duncan (although I wouldn't trade him for either). Legacy
I hate it when people think that Pau Gasol is better than Dirk Nowitzki, when he's not. Look at Gasol back when he was in Memphis, he couldn't take them anywhere. At least Dirk has made Dallas one of the top teams in the league for the past years. and I'm guessing they are counting David Lee as a center? You can make the case that Pau has helped make the Lakers champions for the past couple of years. Sure Pau has Kobe and blah blah blah... but look at the Lakers before they got Pau, they were not nearly as dominate.

The Artesticle
I agree that Pau isn't better than Dirk, but you can't compare him to the Memphis Pau Gasol because he's gotten much better since then. He's turned into a completely different player last year than he was when he was first traded to the Lakers. If we had the Gasol in 2008 we would've lost Game 7, but the new Gasol stepped up along with Artest to carry the offense when we needed them the most, when Kobe was shooting 2-50 or whatever in the most important game of his career. With 2008 Gasol we probably never come back from the deficit and lose game 7 at home to the rival Celtics in double figures.
Flash
Duncan should be #1 If this were 2, 3 or 4 years ago I'd say yeah but I'd put Gasol and Dirk ahead of him at this point.
Nitro
but look at the Lakers before they got Pau, they were not nearly as dominate. Ummm...not as dominant, sure. But they had the #1 seed that year in the West in 2007 before Bynum went down. As for Gasol vs. Bosh, I might give the slight edge to Gasol, but it's very close. The only reason Pau is so widely acclaimed is because he is on the Lakers. He got a bt better and tougher, but he has the same damn skills as when he was with the Grizzles. Bosh is a better rebounder, more versatile scorer and has the speed to defend the more athletic PF's out there (see- Olympics). Don't get me wrong, I'd probably take Gasol for his elite post game and passing skills as well (along with his sligttly overrated defense). I just think Gasol has been a tad bit overrated since coming to the Lakers. As for the list, Dirk HAS to be at the top of the list. I don't quite understand how he isn't, and I've argued how Dirk is better than Gasol to death with Erick Blasco so I won't go any further into it. But regardless, he should be #1 without a doubt. crabbylion
IDK about Tim Duncan still being in the top 2. The Duncan love affair still lives on, I see.

Owner Real Deal Posted August 26, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted August 26, 2010 Troy Murphy is in every picture but one (Kevin Love). Same with Dwyer's top ten SG's and OJ Mayo being in every picture.
La Bomba
Zach Randolph is better than Josh Smith and Boozer. People will say "Randolph is lazy and can't play defense." Wrong. He was lazy in his past teams, but he has been nothing short of amazing for the Grizzlies. His defense isn't stellar, but there is no questioning his effort. He simply isn't athletic, quick enough, or tall enough (only about 6'9) to be a good post defender.

Speculation, but as of now I would say Scola > Kevin Love because he is just much more dominant offensively and is capable of averaging 20,10 when he is on fire. 20.6 ppg, 10.5 rpg, and 2.5 APG in 16 games in March, freaking beast. Lemon
The argument with Dirk vs Pau is that one can put a team on his back while the other has a better overall game. Dirk can't touch Pau's near flawless all-around game, but Pau could never toughen up to lead a team to over 54 wins.

Lemon
Well you're basically saying Pau is 2nd option and Dirk is 1st option so its obvious that Dirk is better. Not necessarily. All that is saying is that Dirk is a better scorer. Pau will never be a better 1st option than Dirk, but Dirk also will never be a better 2nd option than Pau. When all is said and done, Pau is a top 10 maybe even top 5 second option of all time. How good will Dirk rank as a scorer at the end of his career? If he's in a top20 then he's barely there.
