One of the weirder things I have seen this year. Dallas Braden threw a complete game shutout, with just 4 hits, 1 strikeout and no walks, but he still had 120 pitches. Very odd. Must have been a bunch of foul balls.

Phils won on three hits today (three runs scored).

Eduardo Nunez hit his first major league HR and went 3-4 with 4 RBI's. Allowing 9 runs on back-to-back days may not be the best news, but it's good to see that our offense stepped up.

My notes from the game:

Thames baby! Love this guy.

Nunez didn't really hit in the minors... Glad to see he's popping, even if it'll be shortlived.

Where the [expletive] is Montero?

Boone Logan has been an absolute rock in our bullpen. [expletive] Vazquez, Vizciano, and Melky... This guy turned out to be the gem of the trade.

Who in the world is going to show up in our rotation? Where is Andy? Nova is being chased for giving himself B-12 injections. AJ/Vazquez/Philthy have sucked. Anyone? Bueller?

Posada and Cervelli are about as bad of defensive catchers as you can get in the major leagues. I'll say it again: Where the [expletive] is Montero?

1) I'm a huge fan of both the Thames and Kearns pickups.

2) Pena has had his struggles this month, so if another utility infielder can put up big numbers, it makes Girardi's work easier through these injuries.

3) Another incredible season he's having in the minors. But through all the roster shuffling, I don't know if the Yankees want to make the necessary room for him this season.

4) I was hyped for Logan, especially with Coke departing. I anticipated his overpowering fastball, but even though he's hit over 95 only a couple times, he has still earned a key spot in the 'pen with Marte out.

5) Hopefully, Pettitte's health continues to be in good standing and he still has his dominating stuff. For the time being, Nova may earn some more starts if he puts up impressive numbers. Moseley has been doing quite a job as well. Vazquez may come back into the rotation strong like he did last time. Girardi has decisions to make about Hughes' innings and trying to get A.J. back on track at least a little bit.

6) Montero's ability behind the plate isn't necessarily a boost, though, is it?

He can't be worse than Posada or Cervelli behind the plate, and his bat is a plus over either of them... especially so for Cervelli.

There's only a week left of AAA, right? Bring this kid up when the rosters expand and let him play. DFA Cervelli for all I care.
