Cobb
"Still deadlocked at one going into the ninth, Louisville sent Aroldis Chapman to the mound in hopes of taking the tied ballgame into the home half of the frame. Reaching a high of 105 MPH on the radar gun, Chapman (9-6, 3.57) sat down all three batters striking out the side. He would end up being credited with his ninth win of the season."Link

Phightins
Many minor league parks have "greased guns". Lets see him do that in a Major League park.

Flash
Many minor league parks have "greased guns". Lets see him do that in a Major League park. He reached 103 at the WBC. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being true. Aroldis is a stud and is only gonna add to that already nasty Reds staff.

Phightins
You mean Wednesday? Nope, I mean tomorrow . If they wait until Sept 1, they won't be able to use him in the playoffs.
Phightins
I traded him in all my dynasty's he's got bust/reliever written all over him. It's possible, his secondary pitches are not very good at all right now from what I am seeing/reading. He's only 22 though, so it's a bit early to say he's a bust IMO. But I could definitely see him being a relief pitcher long term, a la Neftali Feliz.

Phightins
Ah, I didn't realize that players must have been on the team prior to August 31 in order to play in the playoffs. I learn something new everyday. :glasses: It can be very complicated. Basically you have to have been on the 25 man roster at some point prior to September 1st to be eligible to play in the playoffs. Obviously, players on the MLB 15-day disabled list are eligible also. However, if somebody gets hurt during the playoff series, the team is allowed to call up anybody from the organization as a replacement player, with the kicker being, the replacement player had to have been in the organization prior to September 1st. So, if the team signs any free agents after September 1st, they are not allowed on the playoff roster period. This happened a couple years ago with the Phillies and Tadahito Iguchi, who they signed after September 1st. There are a bunch of other weird exceptions. It's very difficult to understand it all. So basically, the Reds still could have potentially used Chapman in the playoffs if they waited until Sept 1, but they'd have needed for another pitcher to get hurt for that to happen. Flash
That slider is straight filth. If he gets a changeup its game over.
Phightins
OK, his slider is a hell of a lot better than it was the last time I saw him. He still needs to improve his command and and add a third pitch, probably a changeup (as Flash suggested), or else I don't see him succeeding as a starter. I see him more as a better version of prime-Billy Wagner, or a left-handed Neftali Feliz right now. As a starter in the minors, he had a horrible BB/9 and a very average ERA. A third pitch and better command of the fastball can go a long way towards fixing that.
Flash
This guy could be a lights out closer but if he gets that third pitch I see him in the rotation come next season. He won't be throwing in the 100's maybe one time per inning but he'll be consistently in the upper 90's. He's a special talent.
Phightins
Reds fans better pray Dusty Baker isn't back next year, especially if Chapman winds up in the rotation which it sounds like he will. Guy who throws hard slider + Dusty Baker = very short career.
