kingfish
We should be up by more. That bench couldn't scratch a single point till like the 5 minute mark with a shannon brown jump shot. It was the starters that brought the lead up back to 20. Anyways the bench will get a 2nd chance in the 3rd quarter hopefully they increase the lead further more Odom, Gasol, Artest, & Kobe get a rest for the entire 4th quarter. It really sucks how we cant play Bynum or Pau with the second unit for a little bit. Theres no inside presence for the bench, and Theo isnt getting the job done. We have solid perimeter players off the bench, but they are best used as role players along with a couple of starters. They wouldn't play even if Bynum was back healthy. That is Odom role on this team. Odom is basically a starter on the bench and that would make the bench even deadlier. So when Bynum is back I expect this bench to be [expletive]ing insane.
Nitro
The Warriors need to run more PnR's with David Lee. He's one of the, if not the best PnR big man in the league, and right now they are just playing streetball which renders Lee somewhat irrelevant. Once Curry gets back I expect those two to have some great chemistry, but in the time being they need to get Lee more involved.

And Odom basically being a starter again yet with no back up center since DJ and Mbenga barley got any minutes? Yeah I see how Lakers we need a back up centers since we won title's two years in a row.

Odom averaged 28 minutes. so if Bynum was playing limited minutes... wasnt Odom playing limited minutes + 3? Powell and Mbenga barely played in the playoffs. all i was saying is that the Lakers could use a better big off their bench in case Bynum isn't healthy for the playoffs... EDIT: I believe Andrew Bynum also averaged 17 minutes a game in the '08 playoffs as well and Lamar averaged 31 minutes.... so pretty much they combine for 48-53 minutes in the playoffs the past two years. take Bynum out of that and play Ratliff for those 17-25 minutes instead... .... Kobe and Gasol already averaged 39-40 minutes a game the past two postseasons, so you can't really up their minutes... you could get Odom into the 36 MPG area but then you would still need another 12-17 MPG off the bench from a big... again... this is assuming Bynum isnt healthy Edited November 1, 2010 by N.1.A.K. LMFAO o [expletive] man my grammar is off recently lol good looking out. But did Bynum at all contribute during those 25 minutes beside just being a presence in the middle? Odom did all the contributions. Mbenga and Powell didn't do [expletive] and Lakers still came away with the title. And Odom would play the PF spot when he comes in for Bynum you know then they move Pau to the C spot. And don't play that Bynum did well against Dwight in the NBA Finals. That was Pau who mostly had the job of guarding Dwight and he did a nice job on it. Any Laker fan knows Bynum did help in these Finals but did not have the impact in my eyes like Odom did in these NBA Finals.

Owner Real Deal Posted November 1, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted November 1, 2010 I believe Andrew Bynum also averaged 17 minutes a game in the '08 playoffsBynum didn't log a single minute in the 2008 Playoffs. In 2009, he was playing injured. Check out his Finals stats...four of those five games, Drew was pretty bad. In fact, he had more bad games than good ones in the playoffs that season... http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bynuman01/gamelog/2009 Last season's Finals, and the WCF, he was playing injured. Again, look at his lack of production in the last two games against Utah, a couple of games against Phoenix, and 3-4 games against Boston (including the last two games of the Finals, which were horrible). http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bynuman01/gamelog/2010 A fully-healthy Drew does much, much better than that. Owner Real Deal Posted November 1, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted November 1, 2010 and i knew he was playing hurt... doesnt that speak to the need of the Lakers needing a big man even more?I don't think so, because Gasol and Odom are fully capable of playing 40 minutes a game in the playoffs, as long as they don't get into foul trouble (doesn't happen much with Gasol). Phil will not hesitate to play Ron at the four, either...dude is too strong in the post. Glen Davis had trouble with him. We're 3-0 without Drew playing a single second this season. Not that big of a bite yet, but we can definitely maintain the top seed in the West without him because Gasol is a better center than he is a power forward (statistically), and Odom is playing amazing basketball right now. Most of our problems with centers came when Fisher, Farmar and Vujacic were allowing their man to blow past them for layups. Farmar is gone, Blake is playing heavy minutes for us, and Vujacic barely gets a chance to play now. Also, Powell was garbage on defense. He's history, and we have Caracter, who would rather foul than give up a dunk. Mbenga was a fouling machine, and one of the worst offensive players in the league, so we couldn't play him many minutes. He's gone, replaced by Theo, who has a higher IQ, better offensively, better defensively. If Bynum is injured for a fourth consecutive time by the time the playoffs roll around, it's not like he's been vital to our success to begin with. Over the last two playoff seasons he played for us, limited minutes and production, he wasn't that great of a defender, blowing help assignments here and there, and losing his own man frequently.
