Built Ford Tough
Anybody else notice Calderon's stat line tonight? He put up vintage Jose Calderon numbers tonight and looked remarkably like the Jose who stole Ford's starting spot and earned that contract extension (well, maybe not all of it, but played well enough that it wasn't considered an albatross contract at the time). He had 16 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists on 7-10 shooting (2-3 from three) and only turned the ball over one time. He has played really well as of late, and it is definitely encouraging to see. If he can play well enough with his new starting role to get some team desperate for a point guard to bite on him, I'll be completely stoked. As much as I like his heart and the fact that he genuinely wants to be in Toronto, his contract is just awful on this team.
Owner Real Deal Posted November 25, 2010 Author Owner Report Share Posted November 25, 2010 LOL, I can't figure you Raptors fans out. You want to lose, but you get a little excited for these wins. You bunch of schizos.

You bunch of schizos. I want to win games and get a top pick. Yes, I'm greedy. ^_^ But seriously, I've said time and time again on here what I want from this team this season. A bunch of hard fought, close games that they wind up losing. The beginning of the season was the ideal situation for me. The Raptors would fight hard all game long, hang around but eventually lose in the final minutes. It is basically like this: Check my Stats/myself: Tank! Tank! Tank!Swish/headliner: Win every gameBasX/Doc: Not sure what the hell they want, haha. I do admit, though, I get a little excited after they win, but then about 30 minutes after the game I think to myself, "[expletive], they just won. God dammit! ". headliner
Bayless looked really good last night and I love the way the team played. I'm just excited to see Bayless development because I believe he will be an awesome player for this team. I'm a little disappointed in my boy Demar but I just don't think Jay is using him right and not putting him in the position to be successful. I do agree that he isn't really put into the best positions, doesn't get plays ran for him and things like that, but even when he does have the ball he doesn't look to drive. He takes a couple of dribbles and then swings the ball. He has been completely content with just blending in as of late. I would definitely like to see more plays ran for him, though. I agree with you there.

You bunch of schizos. It is hard to genuinely cheer against your team during the game. You try and take the position of rationality, seeing as losing is ideal in the long run, but cheering against your team is just really hard sometimes. Especially when everyone I know outside of the internet wants them to win (these people don't have a clue lol). I agree with you there. In a lot of ways he does allow himself to disappear but when Demar is at his best is when he gets the ball to the corner of the foul line and either drives or takes his mid range jumper. His teammates do a poor job of looking for him in transition and it kills me to see him stand at the corner of the three point line doing nothing. He needs more of a motion offense to get going and Jay has to give him the ball and allow him to create for himself and his teammates. Right now it’s just not happening. Check my Stats
The problem is Demar has such few moves in his arsenal when his jumper isn't falling, which is quite often lately. What allows Weems to be effective is his automatic mid-range game. Demar needs to start sticking that shot with consistency before we can run plays for him more often. Right now his only move is going right and taking a few slow steps and laying it off the glass, or that little spin move, which mind you, he is getting pretty good at. He is just too predictable at this point, he will put it on the floor for a few dribbles, and if he doesn't get by his man, he'll come out and kick it back up top and proceed to drift into the corner, where he is useless. Demar is probably the worst catch and shoot player on this team behind Reggie Evans.
headliner
He may not have an arsenal of moves but the only way he is going to get better is being in the position to create and make plays and in my mind that’s the way he is going to develop.
