Finch23
Big game regardless if Dirk plays or not. Spurs need to win so they can get a 2-1 lead on head to head games. The further they can separate themselves now the better.
Cobb
This one has the potential to get ugly for Dallas. EDIT: Only locker room offering their own shake weight......none of our guys will pick it uphttp://i51.tinypic.com/2iqevkl.jpg Edited January 15, 2011 by Cobb
ChosenOne
Dirk Nowitzki to miss 9th straight game SAN ANTONIO -- Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle didn't have to provide the daily injury update after Friday morning's shootaround. A sweaty, scowling Dirk Nowitzki took care of that. "There's nothing to talk about. I'm out for tonight," Nowitzki said of Friday night's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Erick Blasco
Jeff Van Gundy on his A-Game noticing Blair's post up opening driving room for Parker.
Erick Blasco
Alex Ajinca with the late help, Duncan with a dunk. The Mavs are going to need offense from Ajinca to make up for his poor defense.
Erick Blasco
Chandler made the shot, but you know you're scuffling for answer when you're running down screens for Chandler.
Erick Blasco
Ajinca shoots a right hook that literally landed two feet from the rim. This guy is really not playing well. I'd expect a lot of Brian Cardinal in this game.
The Regime
Ajinca is so lost on defense. Spurs are scoring in the paint with ease.
Erick Blasco
Ajinca no defensive awareness, great feed by Parker, Blair gets an uncontested dunk. San Antonio is getting whatever they want inside. Brian Cardinal isn't a lockdown defender, but he's much more versed in team defense. With Ajinca struggling to score the Mavs have to make the move to bring him in to stabilize the game.
Erick Blasco
I've honestly only seen Ajinca play twice before this game, but I swear he models his game after Andray Blatche.
Erick Blasco
JVG takes the easy way out by talking about San antonio's defense. The Spurs have NOT been a good defensive team this year.
Erick Blasco
No surprise, Cardinal in for Ajinca.
Erick Blasco
Because Cardinal is just a spot up shooter the Spurs switch on Kidd/Cardinal's screen. Kidd's not quick enough to beat Jefferson off the dribble and Parker doesn't have to worry about stopping Cardinal. That's a huge difference considering Nowitzki is Dallas' usual starting power forward.
Cobb
Ajinca just flat out sucks. He can't rotate, get open, or set a good screen.
Erick Blasco
He's not even strictly shooting, Stevenson posts up Parker and gets to the line. For a team that needs to manufacture offense, that's a huge boost if Stevenson can provide some points in the post.

Cobb
Tony Parker is having himself a game right now.Really easy when he has Tyson Chandler guarding him.
ChosenOne
How is Brian Cardinal even running up and down right now the dude looks 80 years old.
Erick Blasco
Terry had a nice shot over Hill before, but you can see just how good a defender Hill is. He really shut down Terry's drive to the hoop a few possessions after he forced Terry to make a difficult jumper.
Erick Blasco
Really easy when he has Tyson Chandler guarding him. He had a lot of terrific finishes early in the game, and Ajinca's breakdowns fed him a bunch of assists. Chandler's played as well as you could expect and he's limited Parker's penetration. Sometimes you have to live with him making 16 footers.
Erick Blasco
George Hill is playing some outstanding defense on Terry.
Erick Blasco
You know the Mavs are desperate for offense when they're playing...Sasha Pavlovic?!?!?!!?
Erick Blasco
Dallas is working hard on defense, but Ajinca's bad start and Parker's great first quarter have put the Mavs in an early hole---and it's doubtful the Mavs have the offense to comeback, especially on the road. Erick Blasco
The Mavs are going to need Barea to have a good game. He has to make his layups, the Mavs have little margin for error. Good finish, fouled, hits the free throw too.
