HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets are rolling at the right time. All they can do is hope it's enough to get them into the playoffs.

Kevin Martin scored 35 points, Luis Scola added 12 of his 15 in the second half and the Rockets won their seventh straight home game on Sunday night, a 114-109 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Rockets have won eight of their last 10 but remain three games behind New Orleans and Memphis in the race for the No. 8 playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Hornets beat Indiana on Sunday night, and the Grizzlies were idle.

"We just keep hanging in there," Houston coach Rick Adelman said. "That's all we can do."

Houston rallied from 14 points down in the first half, and led 107-104 after Scola's jumper from the top of the key with 1:32 remaining. He buried another one from the same spot about a minute later to stretch the lead to 109-105, and Houston made five free throws after that to secure the win.

I feel like I have said this last year, but the Rockets can definitely look forward to being better next year. The only difference is, they can be better without Yao.

The Rockets are good, just have no legit center and started off way too bad.

Only upside though is that our record will much likely be better than last years and thats a good sign with the team we have.

With the Yao/TMac era offically coming to an end, and by the way we are playing to close this season out nothing but a promising future looks ahead for us. As long as we can keep upgrading without losing a big time player we will be alot better next season.

Rockets offense has been incredible since the all star break, if any opponent tries to play at the Rockets pace then they are in for a tough night. The defense has been picking up just in time luckily, but still is obviously the struggle for this team. Luckily Courtney Lee down the stretch did a great job on Joe Johnson and Chuck Hayes obviously owned Al Horford multiple times, seeing Chuck own someone on D has become a norm. I don't think any player gets me more pumped on D than Chuck Hayes, his defense is just ridiculous and he does it every game down in the post, he was kind of an offensive machine last night as well lol.

I'm really happy with the way the Rockets have bounced back, would have hated to see them tank or give up I would lose way more respect for the team compared to what they are doing now. At least now if they win out or at least end it strong which looks like they will they can say they did everything they possibly could to grab that 8th spot and I think that's extremely respectable in a year which saw Yao Ming go down immediately and two important pieces to this team get traded.

I know missing the playoffs is nothing to brag about, but this stretch has been great to watch, cant complain when it's clear your favorite team is doing everything they can.

Agreed with everything htown said.

This team deserves to be in the playoffs, too bad we will likely miss it again this year but at least we're improving.
