It's funny because people disregard pennies like they aren't money. When I was in Grade 6 I had 35 bucks worth of pennies just by keeping them. I didn't have any use for them, but over time they became worth something.

 

I'd imagine if you kept your nickles you could make a couple hundred bucks in a few years. People rarely use them.

I have a jar with probably $15 worth of pennies.. Sucks how you can't just bring them in to get cash for them, you gotta roll them up first.

 

In most states, and in Canada, a store clerk can refuse a sale if you use more then 25 pennies in a single transaction. In some places it's illegal to do so.

We should stick it to the US by taking all of our pennies and melting them down and selling them for their worth in copper.

It adds up...then I take em to my bank's coinstar type machine...extra spending money in my pocket.

I only keep quarters...if I get anything else I usually tell the cashier to keep it...unless its over 75 cents in coins.

I always keep my change, and dump it into a big 'ole jar. Once it's full I take to a coin-star type machine (honestly, they rip you off...but I don't have the time to roll all that change). It really does add up, and it's nice for spending money.

I love rolling coins, just sit on my bed get a board dump the change out turn on a sports game and just go to work, perfect for a saturday or sunday gameday.

I recently cashed in a jar of change for ~$60 at the bank. Still think pennies are pretty worthless though.

Pennies are worth something....but you need 100 just to get one dollar....I don't get lucky enough to get 100 pennies. Thats why I only keep quarters and dimes...everything else just takes too long to add up to something.

In my 7 years here in Australia, I've never seen a penny. The smallest value here is a nickel, which is accepted in vending machines.
