With the NFL season starting Thursday Night I figured it was time for predictions. Using the highly unscientific method of looking at each team's schedule I predicted these outcomes. If you have any disagreement, question, or outrage leave a response in a well thought out and appropriate manner then I will directly address it. Also, I will give a brief explanation as to why a team will win the Conference Championship Game, Super Bowl, and a player winning an award.

(* denotes Wild Card)

AFC East:

1.New England Patriots 11-5

2.New York Jets 10-6*

3.Miami Dolphins 9-7

4.Buffalo Bills 3-13

AFC North:

1.Pittsburgh Steelers 11-5

2.Baltimore Ravens 11-5*

3.Cincinnati Bengals 8-8

4.Cleveland Browns 2-14

AFC South:

1.Indianapolis Colts 12-4

2.Tennessee Titans 8-8

3.Houston Texans 7-9

4.Jacksonville Jaguars 5-11

AFC West:

1.San Diego Chargers 10-6

2.Denver Broncos 7-9

3.Oakland Raiders 3-13

4.Kansas City Chiefs 2-14

AFC Playoff Seeding:

1.Colts

2.Steelers

3.Patriots

4.Chargers

5.Ravens

6.Jets

AFC Championship Game:

Steelers defeat Colts

Reason:The Steelers menacing running game, defense, and a great young core of receivers will defeat the Colts in the 4th Quarter much like the Saints did in Super Bowl XLIV. A well rested Ben Roethlisberger will make fans forget about his messy off-season in this thrilling game. His suspension may turn out to be the best thing to happen to the Steelers all season as this playoff game is only his 14th of the season. Also, the Colts lack of a big play threat will hurt them against a defense that's only hole is against quick young receivers.

NFC East:

1.Dallas Cowboys 11-5

2.Washington Redskins 10-6*

3.Philadelphia Eagles 8-8

4.New York Giants 6-10

NFC North:

1.Green Bay Packers 11-5

2.Minnesota Vikings 10-6*

3.Chicago Bears 6-10

4.Detroit Lions 4-12

NFC South:

1.New Orleans Saints 12-4

2.Atlanta Falcons 7-9

3.Carolina Panthers 5-11

4.Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFC West:

1.San Francisco 49ers 10-6

2.Arizona Cardinals 8-8

3.Seattle Seahawks 5-11

4.St.Louis Rams 2-14

NFC Playoff Seeding:

1.Saints

2.Cowboys

3.Packers

4.49ers

5.Vikings

6.Redskins

NFC Championship Game

Cowboys defeat Saints

Reason: The Cowboys stout secondary, run defense, and explosive offense will defeat the Saints for the second time in the 2010-11 NFL Season. Tony Romo will perform just as well as he did last year in this rematch in the Superdome. The Saints hopes of repeating will be destroyed as the Cowboys defense and offense proves too daunting for the Saints.

Super Bowl XLV

Cowboys defeat Steelers

Reason: The Cowboys become the first team in NFL history to win a Super Bowl on their home field in this astounding match-up of two long time rivals. The Steelers tendency to give up the big play will hurt them as Miles Austin and Dez Bryant burn them deep much of the game. Tony Romo also finally sheds the choker label as he leads his team to victory in this thriller.

Awards:

MVP: Aaron Rodgers

Reason: Rodgers leads the Packers to an 11 win season as he throws for 5,000 yards and 40+ TD's to possibly the best receiving group in the NFL.

Super Bowl MVP : Tony Romo

Reason: Romo throws for 300+ yards as he finally sheds his choker label in the biggest stage of his career.

Offensive Player of the Year: Aaron Rodgers

Reason: See MVP "reason" above

Defensive Player of the Year: Darrelle Revis

Reason: Revis shows why he is the most valuable defensive player in the NFL today in a season where he shuts down every receiver he faces.

NFL Rookie Offensive Player of the Year: CJ Spiller

Reason: CJ will be the reason Bills fans have hope for the 2011-12 season as he shows exactly why he was drafted so high in a 1,300 yard season.

NFL Rookie Defensive Player of the Year: Ndamukong Suh

Reason: He will strike terror in every single linemen, quarterback, and coach in the NFL as he causes distress to every team he plays. Sam Bradford will be looked at as Sam Bowie thanks to Suh's outstanding play.

NFL Comeback Player: Clinton Portis

Reason: Portis will excel in Mike Shannahan's running back system as he rushes for 1,000 yards for the first time in a long time.

NFL Head Coach of the Year: Mike Tomlin

Reason:Tomlin will make Steelers forget about their horrid 2009 season with 11 wins to show.

Falcons going 7-9? :o

My picks can't appeal to everyone.

The Falcons do have the 20th Hardest Schedule in the NFL, but they have a rebuilding defense.

I like their offense if that helps :D

6-10 for the Gmen? Really?

I really have the strong belief that playing the toughest division, having lack of depth at running back and other positions, and an unproven receiving core besides Steve Smith will plague this team this season. I have serious doubts whether Bradshaw or Jacobs can last an entire season, and if Osi can return to top form.

I'm with Guru. 2009 was a horrendous year for the New York Giants... and we finished 8-8.

Eli Manning suffered through plantar fasciatis last year. Jacobs played with a torn knee since week 1. Bradshaw broke his feet. Boss and Kareem McKenzie were fighting nagging injuries all year. Rocky Bernard, Chris Canty, and Justin Tuck were all playing with either one arm or one leg last year. Osi Umenyiora and Barry Cofield are finally two years removed from knee surgeries. Kenny [expletive]ing Phillips is back playing after a terrifying knee injury. Aaron Ross should be able to play 10+ games. They have added Shawn Andrews (#2 LG, will supplant Seubert quickly), Keith Bulluck (#1 SLB), Antrel Rolle (#1 FS), Deon Grant (#1/#2 SS, depending on Phillips' workload), and Darius Reynaud (#1 KR/PR). They have added two players who will make an impact as rookies on the defensive line in Linval Joseph and Jason Pierre-Paul. They have a punter who, while not as good of a directional/coffin punter, can punt the ball over 40 yards. Antonio Pierce's complex mind is gone from the linebacking corps, but we now have an athlete there in Jonathan Goff who can resemble a football player from time to time.

This team gets two games worse than last year and I'll buy a Lebron jersey.

+1

I have to stand by my picks, but this would usually cause me to change my mind.

Excellent Post.

1. New England will not will the AFC East, their defense is atrocious.

2. The Houston Texans are a playoff team this season imo. I would put them atop the Titans. I can see the Texans finishing something like 9-7, they are just far too talented offensively and much improved defensively this season.

3. The Dallas Cowboys will NOT make the Super Bowl, prior to the preseason I would thought differently but after watching their offense (particularly their o-line) this preseason I just don't see them making it that far. 11-5 is a really generous record.

4. Giants at 6-10, LOL.

5. The Panthers are atleast a .500 team, they are just way to well coached and have too strong of a running game and defense to finish at 5-11. Matt Moore is not as bad as a lot of people think, yeah sure we didn't put up points this preseason but not having your top WR and stud RB will do that to an offense.

I'm predicting a Packers/Ravens Super Bowl. Both teams have really good offenses which aren't prone to turning the ball over and are backed by solid defenses.

Giants are winning the NFC East, Dallas' OL is a huge question mark for me and IMO could be the reason they may even miss the playoffs this year. Pittsburgh has no shot of going 11-5. Just won't happen with Big Ben gone for 4 games and question marks all over the offense. Not to mention we never know how many games Polomalu is going to play.

I'm picking a Packers/Ravens SB as well. They are the 2 most complete teams in the league IMO.

2. The Houston Texans are a playoff team this season imo. I would put them atop the Titans. I can see the Texans finishing something like 9-7, they are just far too talented offensively and much improved defensively this season.

If the Titans get Haynesworth they make the playoffs. That would be a monster acquisition to get him back.

Cowboys > Giants

lol @ preseason performance being brought up.

GIants are pretty under the radar this year. I think Nicks has a breakout year and solidifies himself as a legit NFL number 1 receiver. Dallas' OL is pretty bad dude.

The Dallas Oline is better than it was last year  I love when people have no clue what they are talking about, omg we looked bad in 15 minutes of a preseason game. Did you see our third team offense shove it down Miami's first team defenses throat? The Dallas oline has always been sub par, however, we are going to slam it down your throat, slow down the rush with the draws and screens that we don't like to show to teams in the preseason and then complete big plays downfield to Dez and Miles. The Cowboys are only better from what they were last year not just offensively but especially defensively.

BTW we Colombo and Kosier, 2 of our start oline men were out with injuries in those preseason game

anyways

we talking preseason mayne

NOT AN ACTUAL GAME

preseason
