Sħãlïq™
Remember the 1998 Semifinals -- Russia beat USA 66-64 <_< mainly because of the NBA lockout. Team USA still managed to win bronze with a team comprised of players playing in Europe and two college players. Michael Hawkins was one of the team's leaders: http://zmurawy.blox.pl/resource/michael_hawkins.jpg Just thought of that game before tomorrow's 1/4-final. Time for another revenge (2000 Olympics: USA 85, Russia 70; '02 World 'ship: USA 106, Russia 82) http://www.usabasketball.com/mens/national/mwc_1998.html
YugoRocketsFan
I dont think the US cares about winning vs a team because of something that happened centuries ago but are instead focusing on winning.
Owner Real Deal Posted September 9, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted September 9, 2010 He has a point, though. Russia is really our biggest rival in international play. http://www.usabasketball.com/mens/national/usarussia_another_classic_on_2010_09_08.html

moeroadkill
I dont think the US cares about winning vs a team because of something that happened centuries ago but are instead focusing on winning. http://www.dailythunder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/103942059.jpg Against Russia, Durant simply wrote “1972″ on the tops of both his sneakers. It wasn’t anything flashy, but it was certainly classy. If you don’t know, yesterday was the 38-year anniversary of the infamous 1972 gold medal game featuring the then USSR against the United States. And guess who Team USA faced yesterday in the quarterfinals of the World Championships. It wasn’t actually the USSR, but it pretty much was. (If you don’t know what happened in that game, read this and then watch this. It’ll explain everything.) i know its not that same year but just showing that some of them do care/know about the past Edited September 11, 2010 by MoeRoadKill
