How would you grade both LA's and the C's off season?

From a non-bias perspective, I'd say we both did well. We've got Jermaine and Shaq, who're still serviceable big men, and we signed Delonte West, who's a good defender. L.A signed Barnes, who's a good defender but a nut job, like Delonte. They signed Blake who's good, and signed Theo Ratliff who's a new Benga, so I think our teams both did well.

I'd grade it a B+. You? :)

Don't be biased, I think we did equally well.

We have our defender Delonte, they've got Barnes. Although we got two better centers, they signed Ratliff who's a good player. They got Blake, that's good. We got two centers, actually no - three. We filled that hole up good. I think we did better on filling holes, while the Lakers got better players. So I'd say it's equal.

Kind of true: S then... A+ and A+

Boston: A-

We added the big man depth that we so desperately lacked last year, and that showed especially in the LA series.

LAL: A

The squad they have has already proven they were capable of winning championships, adding a tough nosed defender in Barnes who can also hit shots from outside and Steve Blake who IMO is an upgrade over Fisher is superb.

I like the chances at a re-match in the finals this year barring any significant injuries to either squad.

Boston: B+

Great signings to address the interior problem for when Perkins is gone. Losing Sheed and Tony Allen hurts a bit but nonetheless still a nice off-season. Wing depth could be a problem though as to who plays back-up SF (not a fan of Daniels)

LA: A

They improved their bench without losing anyone of significant impact. Blake > Farmar and so, really nice offseason. Not to mention the two rookies got potential to enter the rotation in this deep squad, which is another +.

Lakers - A

Boston - B+

The Lakers got exactly what they needed. They finally got a good all around point guard, one that can play defense and has a well rounded offensive game. Barnes was also a very good acquision because he fits in perfectly with the bench, shoots the 3 well and is a solid defender. The last few years the Lakers have had Jordan Farmar and Luke Walton occupying those spots and they won the championship, while this year they got significant upgrades to those positions. Not to mention they finally got a legitimate 2nd string center.

Boston gets a B+ because they got some players who are notorious for locker room problems. They are either going to be very smart or very stupid for their signings. Shaq gives them a huge advantage against Miami in the paint, because they have nobody who can come close to matching his size. Delonte is also a very good and underrated player, hes alright on defense but he is very good at shooting the ball and creating his own shot. But Delonte can be a problem in the locker room, and Shaq may start to cause some problems in the locker room when he doesnt get the playing time he wants. Jermaine Oneal was their best signing, but he has a bad history of getting injured. If he is healthy it may not be for long.

All true title contenders I can think of over the last 3-4 years have had that one player to stop guys like Bryant and Wade. Boston lost theirs when Tony Allen walked (it was Posey in 2008, but even Allen played decent minutes in the regular season).

So it's hard for me to give them an "A" on the report card. Delonte West will get eaten alive...much better defending point guards or less-gifted twos.

Handing them a "B+" seems fair, though, because they stacked themselves at the four and five with some talented bigs, which is NEVER a bad thing. Jermaine and Shaq are basically starters, along with Perkins, and Jermaine can also play the four. I can't say how much Erden will contribute, but he looks to have improved his game slightly.

WTF! To you. You're bisased as hell. The Lakers got Barnes, Blake, and Ratliff and you give them a A+. OMG please GTFO,

YOU GET THE F OUT. The lpayers you named are obviously not incredible scorers and players but they are just the players the Lakers needed to make the team way better. so please shut up...

The Lakers and Celtics filled holes where they lacked.

LA now has a much better bench. However, they need a backup big. Ratliff won't do.

Boston got two bigs to play during Perkins absence, and has Delonte West coming off the bench. Tony Allen's loss does hurt though.

Both teams were elite last year, and their moves this offseason kept them elite.
