The Patriots have traded fifth-year RB Laurence Maroney to the Denver Broncos, according to an NFL source.

Terms of the deal are not yet known.

Maroney missed two of the Patriots' four preseason games, then was inactive for New England's opener against Cincinnati. He rushed for 2,430 yards and 21 touchdowns in his four years as a Patriot.

ESPN was first to report the news.

Ru joking? Holmes went for a 5th in the offseason and he's much better than Lo Mo, I'm not sure what Denver is thinking if they gave up a 4th.

Holmes also is suspended the first SIX games.

DEN receives

Maroney

6th Rounder in 2011

NE receives

4th rounder in 2011

I think it's pretty decent for both sides. Maroney wasn't going to get work in at N.E. anymore, they phased him out. And he could fit with Denver getting some touches, could revitalize his career.
